HARD DISK SOUNDS

Mine makes this sound all the time. I was worried at first because I thought it was faulty, now it seems normal for hard drives to make a noise like this (phew).

mine makes chirping noises when I press a key in games or in a blank space on desktop it sounds like the chirpping of birds in the distance outside or a squeaky wheel. Does this mean my HD is underpowered or going to pot.

Any clue of why my hard drive constantly makes this sounds even when idle? (most of my pc is new and i have a clean windows installation so i dont know the reason, i actually find my pc underperforming a bit).

@shakespearespqr im getting the same thing, only got my comp yesterday, phoned them up and they just said some are louder than others and its normal :S but irratating as fuck !!

nah... its broken, died last week. I replaced it with one much older and its really silent and idle when idle. Pure bliss.

Modern hard drives should not be making this noise, at least as loud.

I had a Seagate 1TB make this noise, I sent it back under it being faulty and now being sent a replacement Samsung.

If the drive is modern (The drive in this video was only 4GB, thus not modern) and is making a noise like this, I would say that it's failing and it is extremely recommended to backup important data as soon as possible.
