@MrJustagoober haha yea aim the lights down get only 50 feet of light in front of your car and STILL glare, halogen reflectors can't handle HID, thats fact. With projectors you get 400ft of light without glare and a hell of a lot more width than with halogen reflectors. Oh and just so you know a retrofit is only like $250 if you do it yourself (~$800 if you let someone else do it), he probably already spent $100 just in the kits already. Don't know where you pulled 2k from.

@FP5Gaming but the new cars that come with HID's come with projectors. Halogen lenses are not made to properly distribute the light from an HID bulb, only halogen. Aftermarket HID's are illegal for a reason

nice cutoff...drop in HID kits are a joke and extremely illegal. I would suggest going full retro with a FXR projector and 55W. That will give you the most light output while retaining a very good cutoff.

@Zomgdevil Dependent on where you live! I live in the country and they are actually recommended and come standard in different models of cars. Even the SUV police truck here and the Crown Victorias are fitted with HID lamps. There is no discrimination towards the housing at all. Halo projectors are just lenses placed in the housing unless they have an LED bulb or the projector is actually one large bulb as it was in my 525i. I am looking at a Euro style headlight for my Ranger and a Hi/Lo 8000k

Congrats you spent some money and made the road more unsafe for you and everyone else who happens to be unlucky enough to be there at the same time as you. IF all of those lm are hitting the ground. your lm are being scattered because you're putting them in the wrong housings. a real retrofit with real bulbs gives you at least 3400 lumens. 1400 lumens is a LOT of light lost. not to mention the glare you're causing to other drivers. You're using BLUE light. a human eye sees best with sun replicated light.

Get some real projectors. You may not think so, but those throw light everywhere, and definitely into the eyes of oncoming drivers. If you have projectors, your lights will look blue still, you'll be able to see at least 3 times as far, and you wont glare other drivers.
Dude lifted trucks already hit the other drivers high up in the face with their crappy halogens, now you add an HID kit not designed for the housing and all you get is a type of street lighting... light everywhere... totally not cool for the others on the road...
Im running boosted DL50s through some very high quality projectors, with combined output of over 15,000 lm... to compare a typical HID kit 10,000K only puts out 2000 lm..

6000K is simply the color, it has NOTHING to do with brightness in lumens or intensity.
the higher you go in Kelvin (color) the LESS light output in lumens there are.
which is why all manufactures use 4300K Philips 85122s because it has the most light output
get rid of the crappy HID kit and do a real retrofit. or go back to halogens. you're just causing painful glare to other drivers, and you can't see as much as you can with halogens. the headlights are fuckin dope and if people have a problem with them tell them that their car is equally as capable of blinding you back they're just too fuckin cheap. they also fail to realize that many HID kits don't have a Hi/Lo beam and are standardized unless placed in a housing with more than one bulb. i had a projector low beam in my old 525i and wanted HIDs for my high beams but never had time. they look fuckin sweet and serve a great purpose, especially in the sticks where there's deer

Everyone needs to stop bitching about Hid's on a lifted truck and hating on the stock headlights. first off, the headlights this guy has are OEM projectors, i've been on multiple dodge forums and everyone says if you get aftermarket projectors they are junk so stop whining about "retrofitting" and if you have a fucking problem with HID's blinding you then get a fucking car that's more than 2 feet off of the ground and get your own HID's, they really don't blind people unless its 2 lane highway.

I've been on multiple Dodge forums and they all say after market projectors are not meant for HID, only OEM ones are worth it, and since Dodge doesn't really have an OEM then you're kinda shit up creek. I think those guys know what the hell they are talking about. And who the fuck gets an inspection? I have HID's and I have 2 other buddies with them, we've had them over a year and not been pulled over once so idk where you live maybe cops are huge asses.

@Zomgdevil Dependent on where you live! I live in the country and they are actually recommended and come standard in different models of cars. Even the SUV police truck here and the Crown Victorias are fitted with HID lamps. There is no discrimination towards the housing at all. Halo projectors are just lenses placed in the housing unless they have an LED bulb or the projector is actually one large bulb as it was in my 525i. I am looking at a Euro style headlight for my Ranger and a Hi/Lo 8000k

IF all of those lm are hitting the ground. your lm are being scattered because you're putting them in the wrong housings. a real retrofit with real bulbs gives you at least 3400 lumens. 1400 lumens is a LOT of light lost. not to mention the glare you're causing to other drivers. You're using BLUE light. a human eye sees best with sun replicated light.

Get some real projectors. You may not think so, but those throw light everywhere, and definitely into the eyes of oncoming drivers. If you have projectors, your lights will look blue still, you'll be able to see at least 3 times as far, and you wont glare other drivers.

I've been blinded by one too many inconsiderate vehicle owners who install these plug-and-pray kits into their standard reflector headlamps.
I agree that it's bad enough with lifted vehicles and halogen lights blinding you... I don't want to imagine what kind of menace this combination will be.

The FMVSS and ECE regulations have done numerous tests and these things do nothing but produce glare. I have already taken the initiative here in Florida- I have sat down with the Chief of FHP and addressed this concern and he said higher enforcement of this will begin next month.

6000K is simply the color, it has NOTHING to do with brightness in lumens or intensity.
the higher you go in Kelvin (color) the LESS light output in lumens there are.
which is why all manufactures use 4300K Philips 85122s because it has the most light output
