Peter Jackson made LOTR trilogy. It only makes sense that he directs the Hobbit films too! I hope Del Toro doesn't ruin it. At least Jackson is helping with the film as Producer! :)

I heard the reason Peter Jackson is not able to do The Hobbit is because he did not stick to the story from the book. I loved LOTR but when came accross the book there was so much that was portrayed so differently/wrong in the film. Mostly the film portrayed Froddo as abit of a wimp but in the book he is far stronger! Also many of Borromears (spelling)lines in the book were said by Gandalf in the film.
In LOTR Sam played a much stronger character than in the book, there has been alot of speculation that this is because Sam is played by and American and Froddo is played by an English bloke. Alot of usa films falsly portray America as being the ones who sort out the problems, the strongest, the leaders etc. Perhaps peter jackson and co used this opportunity to do the same. Peronsly though i prefer the Story of The Hobbit to The Lord Of The Rings
Oh and yeah I too noticed that Gimly showed hardly any or the hostility towards Legolas that is portrayed in the film, nowhere near as much. The got on pretty well from the beginning if my memory serves me well.
If anybody else had done it probably wouldhave been worse. He had to cut out a lot of things to make them fit into a 3 hour film. Not everybody wants to sit in a theater for 6 hours. A story told in a book can come across differently on film. He said that he wanted to make it as accurate as possible, but sacrifices were inevitable. answering that question in this small space would be like trying to fit all of LOTR books into 3 3-hour films. I suggest u borrow the extended versions from someone and watch the appendices especially fellowship of the ring, and also especially "From Book to Script" in Part 1. Although, they do explain a lot through out the commentaries also :)
And Gandalf Brought Erkanbrand not Eomer. And Gimli did not have that much hostility towards Legolas or elves in the book neither was he as rude grude nor did he make a single wise crack in the book. And not a single line of his made the movie everything about him was made up for movie. And they made you beleive the fellowship didnt know moria had been sacked and destroyed long time before Balin ever led a group back there.
He was disgusting and bumbling the way he was in the movie either and he only had one axe! wouldnt it be easier to only give him one? But noo they had to change it to appeal to the hard core action pack violenece loving fan boys out there. Abd the dwarf weapon design was just god dang hideous and boxy. It didnt look nordic at all like the Rohiiric ones. Now thiers were good.
And another thing about Gimli is nothing like he is in the movie. Not a single thing he said in the book was in the movies and vice versa and when they are moria Gimli stands on the tomb which is exactly the blasphemy that Gimli in the book sliced through the legs of an orc for standing on the tomb.
Sam Raimi Did Hercules and Xena Evil dead and army of darkness and the spider man movies he would make the hobbit truely great I think and waaay surpass PJ.:)

1-PJ didn't design Helms Deep.2-Helms Deep was actually the closest thing to the book.3-If your such a tokinite then truly and I mean truly why did John Rhy Davis ruin Gimli. I think your fordeting that it was a film. It can't have evry single bloody detail from the book. Otherwise it would be 18 hours long for christs sake. Think about it!
then why make the bloody film? and no helms deep was waaay different then in the book. First off Eomer was with them at helms deep the entire time. And Andy serkis I wanted to frickin kill through the entire movies he was so annoying and Ian mckellen I was exacted about him for the longest time Espeically when I saw him as Magneto I thought he would me great. Yeah, that sucks. Lord of the rings wont be as good without Peter Jackson. It will be to different. Alot of movies that get different directors change. Well, here's the thing. New Line scammed Jackson out of millions on Fellowship revenue. Jackson brought it to court and the money-grubbing Bob Shaye has vowed that Jackson will never work with New Line again. MGM owns the distribution rights to the Hobbit, though, so I don't see how New Line is really involved. I suppose it would have been nice to get them to fund the project, but seeing how popular the LOTR trilogy was, I'm sure every studio will be jumping at the chance to fund it.

The studio would be stupid if they didn't let Jackson direct. Because that would be millions of Dollars less at the box-office, no matter who will direct it and how good it will be. But millions of LotR- and Jackson-fans are not gonna watch it.

I think that PJ made a very good film. Of course there are a lot of differences between the movie and the book, but it`s ok, because it is not easy to make a film with so many details and nuances! I am a great fan of the Lord of the Rings .And I am sure, the movie is not worse then the book. It is beautiful, uncomparable... Breathtaking!

I would definitely love to see Jackson make "The Hobbit"...especially if he really wants to. I remember reading somewhere that he was going to also direct a prequel to LOTR that was to deal with the events leading up to those of Fellowship, and that he was going to shoot that film and "The Hobbit" back-to-back. I would love to see that, and I certainly hope that either PJ and New Line can resolve their differences or PJ makes the films for MGM

1-PJ didn't design Helms Deep.2-Helms Deep was actually the closest thing to the book.3-If your such a tokinite then truly and I mean truly why did John Rhy Davis ruin Gimli. I think your fordeting that it was a film. It can't have evry single bloody detail from the book. Otherwise it would be 18 hours long for christs sake. Think about it!

then why make the bloody film? and no helms deep was waaay different then in the book. First off Eomer was with them at helms deep the entire time. And he and Gimli get stuck down fighting in the caves. Gimli only had a helm and shield of that were theodens boyhood ones briefly in the battle then he loses them. He never had one. Not to mention An elf could never beat a dwarf in a drinking match.

Well, here's the thing. New Line scammed Jackson out of millions on Fellowship revenue. Jackson brought it to court and the money-grubbing Bob Shaye has vowed that Jackson will never work with New Line again. MGM owns the distribution rights to the Hobbit, though, so I don't see how New Line is really involved. I suppose it would have been nice to get them to fund the project, but seeing how popular the LOTR trilogy was, I'm sure every studio will be jumping at the chance to fund it.

The studio would be stupid if they didn't let Jackson direct. Because that would be millions of Dollars less at the box-office, no matter who will direct it and how good it will be. But millions of LotR- and Jackson-fans are not gonna watch it.

I think that PJ made a very good film. Of course there are a lot of differences between the movie and the book, but it`s ok, because it is not easy to make a film with so many details and nuances! I am a great fan of the Lord of the Rings .And I am sure, the movie is not worse then the book. It is beautiful, uncomparable... Breathtaking!

i agree he changed the movie from what the books was like. but im basing my jugment on movie alone and not what the books had, Bcos the books had far to much to comper. i CAN honestly hold my hands up high and say i havent read all the books yet, witch i plan to do, i loved the movie so much im expecting id love the books even more. as theres so much more to know and read about.

I would definitely love to see Jackson make "The Hobbit"...especially if he really wants to. I remember reading somewhere that he was going to also direct a prequel to LOTR that was to deal with the events leading up to those of Fellowship, and that he was going to shoot that film and "The Hobbit" back-to-back. I would love to see that, and I certainly hope that either PJ and New Line can resolve their differences or PJ makes the films for MGM

yes u read right, & i hope New Line & PJ can fix this mess. if not MGM gets the rights if New Line dont start work on the movie this year, & iv read about the possible stars of the film not wanting to do the moive then this movie will not hapen. no one will watch it if theres diffirent actors playing as Gandelf / Bilbo / Gollum & so on. it would be a disgrace. as for the preguel one of the stroy lines would have been SARUMAN's turning to his evil ways.

I felt terrible when I read THE bad news two monts ago. Can't imagine no one else anymore to direct any movies based in J.R.R.Tolkien's Middle-Earth, even if it could be a good one. Let us just hope that everything will work out. New Line Cinema is going to do one its biggest mistakes if they are seriously going to make The Hobbit without old crew.
