This song is gloriously unPC; the lyrics "Like a big balloon, shell be floating soon to me" elicit a strangely compelling image that lingers. Still awaiting its availability on CD, I assuage my impatience with this audio version.
the song is already on cd. The two albums of Stamford Bridge were published by SEE FOR MILES RECORDS
great song, but the group made a lot of success with other tunes like Vicar's daughter or Chelsea or Rise sally rise or let's got back to san francisco.
Wow, I'm surprised this was here. This song, and I don't think I've heard it for at least 30 years, just popped into my head this morning. Cheers for posting it.
oh my gosh...my brother and i listened to this as kids in the 70s on an old monument 45. it had a skip in it so we had to skip a past it to keep listening. i can't believe i found it here!
Stamford Bridge are indeed from the UK. The song "Chelsea" reached no.47 in May 70. Roly Poly got good airplay in NZ and reached no.7 Dec 70. A follow up called Vicars Daughter reached no.17 May 71.
I presume there's a connection with Chelsea Football Club (England) or their supporters-this wasn't a hit in England though! (For those who didn't know, Chelsea play at Stamford Bridge stadium.

For some reason, I love the guitar solo at 1:33.

Its probably a big hit amongst Manchester United
fans especially now that Chelsea and Man Utd will meet in the 2008 May 22 European Cup final
in Moscow!
