  • in a democracy, the citizens have a responsibility to keep corrupt corporations and politicians in check, but WE DON"T GIVE A FUCK THESE DAYS. When GW BUSH went to war, WE ALLOWED IT! WE ALLOWED NAFTA, WE allowed repeal of GLASS-STEGALL laws.

  • The huge problem has nothing to do with free trade, free markets, or immigration. It is largely due to the U.S. dollar's privileged status as a world-reserve currency since 1944, combined with the decoupling of the dollar from gold in 1971. With this privilege, the U.S. can print as much money as it wants and send it to other countries -- which happily accept this funny money at face value in exchange for real goods & services. The resulting unsustainable economic imbalances should be obvious.

  • Yes! Let's go back to the gold standard! Brilliant! That way we have no control over our monetary policy and we'll value our dollar on something that has no actual value outside of what your average idiot thinks "ohh shiny, must be valueable". I mean god when Japan went back to the gold standard pre WWII it worked out so well for them didn't it!?

  • First they assasanated JFK then they assasanated America.I remember how the talking heads said we were going to become a service economy with high paying jobs and how the repubs said if you put up any tarrifs you were anti free trade. They sold the deindustralization of America both right and left to the American people on the idea of free trade. Any idiot knows that some guy working for 2 bucks a day in china can out bid an American worker on the final price point of the product

  • The truth is so powerful that it cannot be debated.

    Thank you for this posting.

  • this speech was in 2004...

  • Yep that's what happened when Bill Clinton signed a free trade agreement with China.....Now those jobs go to China by pass the U.S. Mexico boarder and goes right to China that means no American jobs for latin AM. and more jobs for communist China...

  • Hummm.... Maybe Ross Perot wasn't off the mark when he spoke of NAFTA and the "Giant sucking sound of jobs going overseas".
