  • Gran melodia!!! tantos años y aun vigente.

  • correction, this aired on 11/18/89

  • a mi gusto, el trabajo de byrne haciendo salsa tiene un resultado algo melancólico para mi gusto... quizá para estudiantes de música les diga algo más, pero como simple melómano mmm...

  • This is truly precious. Thanks for posting! My favorite song on the Rei Momo LP...

  • Thanks! I Taped this to when it came on. All Star Line up!

  • Shame on Willie Colon!

    David Byrne is amazingly soulful!!!

Thanks for sharing this song of one of his highly underrated Rei Momo!

  • Great song.. love it!

  • somebody should make a movie about byrne's life and christian bale should play him.

  • Wow!!! this is a amazing video, thanks for share.

  • Dirty Old Town, to me, is the principle of severity in the immigration issue.

  • Superb , seen him performing this in San Francisco 1989 and i'm Scottish.

And he's one of the greatest Scots muscians

  • Here looking for that first Talking Heads appearance on SNL. Wonder why it's not here.

  • muchas gracias!!! esta cancion es bellisima

  • David Byrne and the Talking Heads are my favorite

  • Love this record. An amazing fusion!!!

  • angel fernandez!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My god, this song rocks! It's my favorite from the album. Thanks for sharing!

  • I saw him live in ARGENTINA!!!! One of the bet concerts I ve ever saw !!! Cause he really opened my mind about ANY KIND OF MUSIC !!!

  • they used to air this song a lot in guadalajara,,, I haven't seen the original video since those days...

  • @ctizengeorge Was there a video for this song?

  • Riiiittttmooooooooo!!!!

    Venga pá aca!

    Que lindo!

  • Wow! This is awesome! Takes me way back!

  • mh i think you're confusing Willie Colon with Hector Lavoe... the latter was a heroin junkie. yet, I agree with you on the fact that Colon was wrong about Byrne.

Thanx for this video anyway, do you have any other video of this performance?

  • David Byrne is to Rei Momo as Paul Simon is to Graceland.

  • RUHOORUHOO, there was a fantastic live show from 1993, I think. Most of musicians were the same that appear in this video. There was a wonderful live version of Make Believe Mambo song (he also performed Mr. Jones, Life During War Time, She´s Mad). ¿Could someone find something about this? I think it is really a treasure.

  • I still have this on VHS too! Awesome!

  • Fantastic David!

David es un monstruo de la música! :D

  • Genial, Genial, creí que nunca vería video alguno de esta rola, y en general del disco, uno de los discos que me marcaron la adolescencia y mi estancia en la universidad, Graciaspor subirlo. (Great Great, I thought I wouldn´t ever see any video of this Byrne´s album posted here on youtube, especially this song, one of the records that I liked to listen all the time while I was studyin University) Thanks for uploading this and great thing you keep the VHS

  • I remember this performance well. Suppose I can credit Byrne with introducing me to Latin rhythms / Cuban music before Ry Cooder did his (excellent) B.V.S.C.

    Amazing song, this.

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT GREAT

  • Saw this show, Ruhoo..twice in Glasgow in 1990 then a couple of years later in Edinburgh. The backing singer, Margareth Menezes, was sensational when she performed her own stuff.

  • Before Ricky Martin David Byrne And Paul Simon, know a part of the world called South America,,,,Gretting From Chile

  • I remember seeing this on the TV when I was really young.

I can't get enough of the horn section dancing.

  • A rare gem indeed! Rei Momo was a landmark, a cult item for those who believe that the afro-cuban experience goes beyond mambos and cha-chas, but it has influenced all music in a definitive way. I think at the time no one really understood what Byrne was doing. Watching this images, recalling that night of 1990, I see that time has given Byrne all its benefits.

  • @MrNegraMusica Absolutely - a really under rated album.

  • Thanks a lot. Wished he had done a concert movie of this instead of between the teeth. Not because BTW is bad but this tour was brillant and it you are right it is lost to the world forever.

  • Very cool. I recall he also appeared on Johnny Carson about this time and performed "Make Believe Mambo," I believe.

  • Oh that is cool, I hope someone puts that on youtube sometime. I saw him do all of those songs with the same band in Central Park, NY

  • I was at that show too - July 4, 1990 I believe. An amazing concert. Took lots of photos that I just found again while moving.

  • thank you! i have wonderful memories of this phase of david byrne.
