you're over reaching a ridiculous amount with the first block punch combination. you need to step in. also, the timing is off and nobody is going to stand there and do a weak jab at you all slow.
The overreach is due to him setting his distance with his front hand, but then hitting with his back. And the reason it's slow with a weak jab is because this is for white belts. You generally don't teach new techniques at 100% speed because it's hard for students to learn like that. This is to teach them the concept behind self-defense, not necessarily "ultimate" techniques.
@malemonkley Then that is the fundamental problem with this technique. I agree that when you teach the technique it is not 100%. But it isn't the white belt who is doing the defense here. If you teach it this way, and you practice it this way, then you will try to do it this way, and that won't pass in a self defense situation where someone will swarm you with punches regardless of distance. Teach it slow at first, but get the range and the timing right. Exchanges don't happen at this range.
