Hexum was a beautiful soul that was really larger then life. He did more in 26 years then those idiots who mock him do in 70 years. As kid I loved voyagers and wished to have a big brother like him. Looking back, Hexum should not have done Cover-up because the show was really a cheap ripe off of Remington Steel. Had he lived I figure he could easily moved into films and made it big.
He was a beautiful man who was over-worked, over-tired, and probably over-stressed, woke up from a cat nap, and made a regretful move which was fatal. He was not a stupid man.
Jesus
i believe the cover up set was not doing their job that day and screwed up. they killed jon erik. richard anderson said, prodedure is the gun is always empty. than the prop master will come and load the gun at the start of a scene. they were not filming the scene yet, so why did jon erik have this gun in his hands. irresponsibility and lack of safety on that set, and they blamed poor jon erik.
Read background about Glen Larson. In 1971, an up and coming actor Peter Duel shot himself in the head. Wasn't til after he, cast, crew realized all the warning signs. 13 yrs later another rising star Jon dies with wound to head. All knew he was playing with guns. Only O'Neill lectured him and NOT he or other cast or crew did anything again. Wow!!
Nice pics! I believe it was an accident, he was exhausted, the propmasters were by law supposed to remove any weapons OFF the premises the second the actor is done. Jon just woke from a nap, and probably not even realized it was in his hand. He pointed as a joke, like you would a finger~'Hey all this waiting is killing me' kinda thing. The whole 'Russian Roulette' is bogus. Also the story that he 'loved' guns. That was a Cover Up from CBS so they wouldn't be liable in his death. Disgusting.
I watched Knight Rider movie two weeks ago and when i saw Glen A Larson name i seethed with anger. If i was working really hard, i never would put a gun to my head and pull. Sorry, i can't help to be angy with him. Why was O'Neill the only one to lecture him? Where was Larson, Anderson, other cast and crew?? I read they weren't even suppose to be using live blanks for the scene? Just blanks. I now know the differences between the two. Cast HS Blues concern bout swat guy swapped blanks & lives
I met Jon by accident on 6 October 1984 at Rockefeller Center in NYC. At that time I was a photographer's assistant and was carting heavy equipment up the stairs as the lifts were crammed. I was about half way up when I bumped into Jon, who was rushing down the stairs to take a telephone call. Seeing my predicament, he offered to help carry the (extremely) heavy duffel bag to the next floor, a gesture I will never forget. I had always wanted to meet him, but nothing prepared me quite for that!
I am rarely impressed with mlae models as actors but Hexum is the rare exception. Most of these guys seem like dodos immature girls are infatuated with. Honestly can anyone compare Hexum with Justin Timberlake. Timberlake is little league who looks he still eats his Wheaties frankly rather than being sexy. Hexum is a head turner and a very accurate embodiement of the words used to describe him. His death was totally senseless.
Hill Street Blues in late 1983/early 1984 had SWAT leader Lt. Howard Hunter attempt suicide by putting his revolver to his head and pulling the trigger. The next episode showed him w/a Band-Aid on his temple -- his coworkers had substituted blanks.
Could Jon-Erik have seen that and thought doing it was OK? Guns & Ammo magazine had a story on "Deadly Blanks" a few months prior to Jon's accident. G&A demonstrated how destructive blanks are at point blank. Too bad Jon hadn't seen that issue.
That's very interesting, It goes to show you that you can't believe what you see on T.V. Sometimes it's such a matter of circumstance, a butter knife can kill you, but a fall off a cliff will leave you with a broken leg.
I remember this little section on him from E, hated how it ended, 'his luck ran out...' his luck didn't run out, that's not what kept him alive. It was an unforeseen occurence and a sad mistake. Thanks for posting, it had some great pictures.:)

Were you there that day on October 12th 1984, shortly after 5 oclock, huh, your moron!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No you were not, so don't judge a man without knowing the situation, you dumb idiot.
And Jon erik was the president of his Senior class in high school, graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in Philosphy, and became a star within 2 years.
He was not dumb, and have respect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The above comment is made out respect and admiration for JEH and as a heterosexual male.
Palexa39757 4 years ago
@Palexa39757 He wasn't a model turned actor. He played a model/commando in "Cover Up". He started out as an stage actor.

Hmm 1984? I was 10 when he died. I think I would've like him a whole lot better than Tom Cruise or Lorenzon Lamas back in the day.

Remember, even a toy gun can really kill someone. Jon-Erik had a lot to live for. Would had been bigger than even Tom Cruise had he lived!
