Does anybody know if the new crystalyte ht and hs motors are better in speed and torque than the older motors. Or are they just a cheap cost way of them building motors that are not as good as the originals. As the new ones are cheaper and lighter
I still not tested the HS and HC. The phisical desing indicate that the stator and magnet are wider a little more, and that the stator core have less metal mass . What i think is that the new crystalyte motor will have less thermal inertia.. wich mean that they will overheat faster when overdriving them like we do
this E is E very E good E idea E I E ame E happy E that E you E Shoed E me E your E invoation and E to E say E that E if E you E are E ready E for E mor E creation E I E will E stayed E in E tuch E for E mor E Eand E mabe E mor E and E iff E you E do E this E egain E I E be E very E happy E to E See E mor E merci beaucoup je vais faire la meme chause sur le mien .
Nice job Dotorbass, je vais surement suggèrer de faire la même chose sur le moteur d'Eclipse (vehicule solaire ETS). Tu dois ben m'avoir reconnu j'imagine ;o).
almost right ... but black ABSORBS heat best; so definitely do NOT do that. As well, the thin layer of paint will act as an insulator and is another reason not to paint it. Keep it the raw metal for the best heat reduction.
Black paint is a perfect IR emitter and absorber. In IR, what is a good emitter.. is also a good absorber. The Nextel Black Velvet coating 811-21 is the best for any IR and visible application.. search on teh web.. you'll see!.. I use it at my job.. I know it. The problem with the OEM hub motor cover is that they are reflective. ( aluminum surface).. so they absorb less heat.. so they transmit less to the external of the hub.... Painting it in black ( inside and outside) WILL help it to coldown
That is a good idea... Just wondering if you will have to clean it out after riding for periods of time, or when riding in dirty/wet conditions.... Would it help to add fine screens onto each hole to stop dirt?
Please Doctor Bass help me extend the range of my "eZee Cadence" bicycle. In a simple way. So I don´t need to use my car ever again. I need a 4X improvement in range.

you should paint it black,
black radiates heat the best,
reflective surface like on your hub motor wont radiate much
basic thermodynamics!

I know, but for that project what i needed is not a long term cooling.. but almost cooling motor for 1/4 mile run ! and cooling it using air pump jet.
I dont want my motor look like like a black body ! I already work with black body at job.. i dont want them in my hobby!
But thanks for your suggestion anyway.

@Doctorbass Cool stuff. I'll have to take a look at that coating. Thanks for the insight.

@DionDifelice true about insulator, maybe not paint but some dark finish...
anyway, ever heard that Sun is a BLACK BODY ?
is there more radiation or absorbtion depends about temperature diference
