  • All of you who are wondering which movie this is, it's called "Dead Man". Johnny Depp plays a character called William Blake, movie made in 1995. End of mystery, enjoy your knowledge.

  • Dead man

  • i remember watching this movie when i was younger, whats it called again??

  • what a fukin peace of mind this song is

  • love this song <3

  • What is this video? i mean..what movie?

  • Comment removed

  • where is the mp3?

  • I shared a rehearsal space and a guitarist with this band for 2 years and they are definitely some of the most metal guys I've ever met, perhaps one of the first American bands showing influence by the Finnish, Swedish, Norwegian death/doom scene and they've been going for over 10 years strong.

  • I wish ppl would stop bickering about what they think this type of music is.. it's metal, it's f-ing great, daylight dies rule and this song is epic!!!! no can I just listen to this shit w/o stupid pseudo metalheads crowding up my screen with bullshit!!!! come on now!!!!

  • Yea metal is metal and if we fight over if its black metal or death metal were no better then those mainstrem fucks.

  • omg.. epic..

  • AWESOME!

  • gran cancion muy bien ambientada

  • I think it is rather silly to label music to the lenghts that people do these days, I find it silly that there are uncountable amounts of subgenres to Metal, and honestly, the truth is that good music is good music, regardless of the pointless factor of genre. If one has to label Daylight Dies, label them as rock or label them as metal, but don't take it further than that - it is completely fucking pointless.

  • no, this Melodic Doom-Death Metal. There is no two ways about it. If you dont understand what that means, then you should explore underground metal a little more. Swallow the Sun, Rapture, Novembre, October Tide, (old) Katatonia, Saturnus, Mourning Beloveth are all other examples of this sound/genre/definition of music. Imagine Dark Tranquillity but much slower.

  • Didn't you read anything I wrote? Take a look at all the mindless debattes on ANY damn metal related video here on youtube, and you'll come to clarity (assuming you're not a complete idiot, of course) that labels are insane, and so are the vast amounts of sub-genres to rock and metal.

  • I did read what you wrote, thats y I responded to it. However, I disagree. I do agree there are many ignorant 'metalheads' that comment stuff on youtube tho. Anyways, attempting to define or better yet, describe through the use of 'labels' does really nothing more than help organize the vast amount of metal that one comes by in the underground. Many members of these bands also use these 'labels.' Windir and In Lingua Mortua are both melodic black metal for that matter. Its just a sorting system.

  • But no matter how you look at it, it has gone too far. You can't even count the amount of sub-genres to Metal anymore o.O

  • I call them doom death because it's a mix between doom and death metal and it's a good way to describe the band to a friend instead of saying "it's slow metal with heavy parts, growled vocals and sometimes clean but with a lot of melody". I do agree that some bands are just impossible to label and that's fine. Labeling bands help discovering more about underground music.

  • NO they are hyperdooomdeathsaucetastichaterificmasterosity awesomesaucemetalriffictasticulardoomsadgravyuncleberryflipflopapotasaur metal

  • There's an established few that can be interchanged. If anyone tries to sell you on something like Pirate metal or Forest metal or something like that that's obviously retarded but labels don't appear from thin air every time someone thinks one up. The real ones have clear defined characteristics and when grouped together can sufficiently explain just about anything you're going to hear.

  • Another coutry white, wise boy sick of all the shit is in Amerikan Media... next time do it better stay away from you Guitar hero boy.

  • shut the fuck up you fucking piece of shit. this is why i hate america and im getting the fuck out of here when im 18, i hate america because of society, and what it does to you, and your a good example of it, you ignorant piece of shit.

  • whoa whoa whoa.... you're kind of doing the same thing you're preaching against aren't you? How about you go to college and learn a thing or two about life before you decide whether or not you hate America. I have lived in London, England, Naples, Italy, and Cape Horn, South Africa. Let me tell you one thing, they are great and all, but they haven't shit on America. so grow a pair and put up with society like everyone else. besides it's the same everywhere you go. It's just human nature.

  • @Forrestralia Could not have said it better. America is not perfect, but no country is. Talk to many of the immigrants who come to America and they will tell you how grateful they are and how life is much easier than it was where they came from. I came from Denmark and everyone talks about how great Denmark is, and I love it, but it doesn't have the same opportunities. Be grateful for what you have, PaulStroh.

  • I dont like the usa either, but some areas are better than others. Cali, boston and new york tend to be more open. Besides the usa probably has the most diverse culture and if you look deep enough you'll find different people. I live in Alabama and my friends are either gay, atheist or christian. I go to school with a lot of prejudice but as long as you don't let it get to you; you can meet people of different backgrounds not the same old slutty ditzes and preppy red necks.

  • Teenage angst is a bitch. And you think you can run away from your perceived problems (America), but you've failed to recognize that society will suck no matter where you go. You just need to learn to adapt to reality and grow up.

  • the "label," especially in metal isnt meant to describe the 'genre' of a form of music, but a way to describe it without going into intricate detail.

  • Don't challenge Night or he might parade out his army of alt accounts and downvote you to make you look bad.

  • They really are doom metal, tragic metal, desperative metal,, They say it them selves..

  • Every time someone says that this song is doom oriented, God kills a kitten.

  • Ok smart ass, if this isn't doom then what is it?

  • woohoo....dead kittens.....I hope it's painful....

  • Good stuff.

  • First time i saw this video (after a few beers) i thought fuck jonny depp's in a wicked metal band....either way daylight dies are awesome :)

  • fuckin great movie

    song is also good

  • me encanta esta banda, realmente tocan un metal muy triste y conmovedor. Daylight dies ROCKSSSS i hope the new album is as good as dismatling devotion

  • Melodic death/doom metal, my bad

  • Metal Masterpiece

  • this band is fucking awsome

would love to see them live someday

    what movie is this from?

  • Dead man

  • Daylight Dies is awesome, though (I) dont see this much as DOOM.

Listen to Shape of Despair they do Funeral Doom and they make this song seem happy. Still a great song.

  • It's death/doom, silly. Ever heard Asphyx?

  • Asphyx hmmm not yet. Imma gonna search them. cool.

  • Doom metal is as broad of a genre as Death Metal. It encompasses a lot of music. At the Gates doesn't sound like Suffocation, but they both play Death metal.

  • haha, correction, it's melodic doom/death (h) and you know it.

  • Just got all their music. Good stuff.

  • Mournful Congregartion, Worship and Thergothon are (were) good funeral doom bands, too.

I find Daylight dies as an original mixture of various genres (not funeral among them)...with really beautifull (and intelligent) lyrics and melodies.

  • "Daylight Dies is awesome, though (I) dont see this much as DOOM."

Yes, finally.. this bands doesn't play Death Doom but Melo Death fits them like a glove just played at a slower tempo. Seriously people, listen to Indesinence, Mourning Beloveth (real Death Doom) and you'll see what I mean.

Don't want to sound rude but I'm getting sick and tired of poser bands claiming to be Doom when obviously are not. Swallow the sun comes to mind when I think of poser Doom bands as well.

  • calling Swallow the Sun a poser sounds so harsh. I think it would be better to say they just aren't true doom. >.> I like Swallow the Sun...

  • Ok, maybe it was a little harsh but they shouldnt claim to be Death Doom.. Just isnt right for real Death Doom bands struggling to even get signed. Would you be happy if I replaced poser with pseudo .. I dislike Pseudo Doom bands : )

Remember slow tempo doesn't always mean DOOM

  • Pseudo Doom sounds much better, more scientific.

(^_^)--b sounds good to me. hahaha

    doom on christmas eve, awesome.

  • they've taken influence from doom metal, get over it.. if you're too stubborn to accept any new bands every band to come from now will be a poser band.. i think its stupid to say a band recording music the way they want it to sound is false, its just them being honest. when bands try to fit the standards for elitists things get v repetetive.. music progresses, get over it

  • Hear hear!

  • Oh shut up! You don't think I know that? That's exactly the reason why I know they are not Doom. DD are not Doom of any kind. I listen to quite a big amount of Doom from Funeral to Drone so next time don't bother replying if you have no clue about the subject.

Slow and Depressing doesn't equal Doom.

    Do your research kid.

  • Next you're going to tell me that Katatonia is true Doom because is depressing lol

If you think this song is as Doom and depressing as it gets, you have know clue about Doom Metal. Seriously don't bother replying lol

  • OMG lol.. Please anyone that believes DD or StS to Doom shouldn't be talking. And Katatonia first two albums weren't Doom IMO.. and by saying that Katatonia were 100% Doom makes you look like an ignorant fuck, even if they played DeathDoom they wouldn't be 100% Doom. I'm aware that some people don't consider Drone to be Doom, I partly agree but I wouldn't call it ambient or noise.

  • If you want to get technical, 100% Doom Metal bands would be the likes of Trouble, Saint Vitus, Cathedral, Pentagram even Pale Divine.. again do your research kid and better luck next time lol

  • If you really want to get uber technical no band is doom that doesn't sound exactly like Black Sabbath, so just STFU and stop posting.

    Thank you.

  • I will STFU if you stop replying and let it go.

It's not like I'm saying they suck OK!

  • I have a great idea, everyone STFU and listen to the music for what it is and not try to label something that shouldn't have a label to begin with.

  • I have a better idea. Mind your own business and stop looking for attention.

The argument is obviously over. I for one forget all about it.

  • Katatonia was originally... well... almost a black metal band, they wore corpse paint and everything. Lots of bands from Finland, Norway, Sweden, etc. started off as death metal, doom metal, or black metal bands then eventually progressed into a slow, depressing, rock style but still kept a twinge of metal. Sentenced and Rapture are two decent examples.

  • I actually like Katatonia more now than those early years, though my favorite era is probably somewhere around Brave Murder Day and Discouraged Ones. But to each his own.

  • Rapture are awesome, check out Ikuinen Kaamos' 'The Forlorn' that has Rapture's vocalist on it. It fuckin' RULES!

  • I think Daylight Dies play metal and are doomy in their sound. I call them doom metal. Rofl, lol, lmao etc etc.

  • Good for you!

  • This song embodies my life.

  • @Dumachum Amen brother. All the struggles I face day by day with connections with people. Sometimes its there, sometimes its not at all. Open ended implicity is a horrible thing to see day by day. I fucking hate having seasonal depression and being single. Im over it.

  • The one movie with Johnny Depp in it that is watchable.

    Great movie, great song.

  • This is one of my favorite songs from this CD. Oh my gosh. Egan.

  • Feel my broken heart in this song i lose myself..... mmmmmm

  • Hopefully we'll see some more bands take on the doom metal sound soon...this is the best music there is!

  • Wicked!Heard alot of DooMMetal,Evoken,Funeral,Forest of Shadows,Shape of Despair,My Dying Bride..this band is tops,,,Horn's Up!

  • czekam na tą grupe , aż zagra w POLSCE - i love this band;)

  • Doom metal fuckin ROCKS...Jonny Depp fuckin ROCKS...GOD I fuckin love this band

  • I love it too.(i just saw Skepticism-Sign...and the idea about cheap movies fitting with funeral doom)-you're doing a great job though..

  • Is that Johnny Depp?

    Daylight Dies kicks ass!!

  • Yep, that's Johnny Depp alright. The movie is called "Dead Man"

  • Somber metal, beautiful sonority, very dreamy! I love it.

  • Best new Metal Band in America. Going places few dare to tread with real hope of bringing true melody to the death and decay of music today.
