If anyone thinks that, as the Congresswoman stated, it was a mistake to link the debt reduction to the debt ceiling, then that would mean making the debt reduction part of the budget. Paul Ryan did try that, but unfortunately there was not any interest in that on the part of the Senate or the President. The U.S. Government collects enough in taxes, they just spend way too much. The Federal govenment is too big and doing things that aren't its job. If we had more like Joe they would fix that.

The House might pass the Boehner plan today, July 29. Even if they do, it probably won't pass the Senate. The fact that even if it passes the house it will only be narrowly tells me that the Reid plan has a snowball's chance in hell of passing in the House. Therefore I think that there will be no debt ceiling raise by August 2. It will be interesting then to see if social secuity checks don't go out. I bet they will.
