  • I too, saw him as a kid in New Orleans, but that was about 1965 on black and white only TV. This video must be a remake of the original. For one thing, there were no such things as "home video recorders" back in the day. I thought he was the coolest thing, good memories in a strange sorta way.

  • Was this a local show or something? Everyone seems to be from New Orleans

  • Morgus was great. Does anyone know if he is still around?

  • Is it just me, or did the guy who play Dr. Morgus look an awful lot like Morton Downey Jr.?

  • Why didn't he ever try to invent something to fix his back? - He just looked uncomfortable in every episode.

  • i have only 2 words to shere with everybody MORGUS RULES

  • i have only 2 words to shere with everybody MORGUS RULES

  • Every Saturday night I would tune in to see Morgus, Chopsley, and of course Eric.

  • I wonder if his inspiration for the Morgus costume and look was Professor Kelp from the original Nutty Professor? Reminds me A LOT of Lewis' character.

  • Saturday nights in the late 80's.. those were the days, staying up till 10:30 at night to watch Morgus, a great memory of my childhood.

  • Morgus was on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory a few years back. I was so excited to hear him again. He kept saying "Chopsly, Chopsly, get away from the machine."

  • Morgus come back

  • Dr. Morgus is still alive. However, the show does not air anymore. There is a site dedicated to the Dr.'s community where he makes new posts off and on. And who could forget the about ten-year span where he operated out of the old ice house in Detroit.

  • NEW-ORLEANS BABY!

  • Ah! The POWERS TO BE (...and they know who they are...) really enjoyed this stroll down Memory Lane. Hey and who could forget when Morgus the Magnificent did the Weather on WWL Television? Man, that Humidity Rag was the best invention on TV.

  • Wow! I miss stuff like this!! Thanks for the upload!

  • Chopsley and My Uncle Were Good Friends Down The Road In reggio

  • i remember watching this as a kid, I loved it ;-) wish there was a way to get them on dvd or something, sure the quality wouldn't be great, but still it would be awesome to have as alot of us New Orleanians lost everything else in the storm, would be a nice something to have as another memory.

  • OMG!! I remember this exact episode from when I was a kid. And what's funny is that there is a doctor at the hospital that I work at the looks just like she could be his sister. Scary!! This is a classic and only us New Orleanians know about it.

  • aaaaah the memories

  • The original chopsley died many years ago. I think he was a motorcycle cop on NOPD.

    Sid Noel is alive.

    Eric?..I dunno...;)

  • I went back home to Thibodaux one time years ago.My dad and I went to my uncles house deep in the swamp. This dude showed up.They called him Chopsley he wore some hunters hood over his face. And didn't speak. He had a AK47 rofl some crazy badass shit!

  • Chopsly U IDIOT!

  • I remember the higher order.

  • "Chopsley you idiot" LMBO ... O i remember watching this w/ my mom so many times

  • where is this guy from?

all i grew up with was lame old Bill Nye the Science Guy.

  • @Zoras88 : New Orleans, LA and he and Chopsley are very much alive and we love them dearly and OMG they are sexy!!!!!! 0;-) This episode was filmed in 1988 or 1989 in the Old City Icehouse just down the street from the Cabildo. WE LOVE YOU DR. MORGUS!!!

  • i loved him too.

  • I think the man who was experimented on here was Donald Bernard, a local opera singer here in New Orleans. That would explain Morgus singing the aria at the end of this piece.

  • 0:52 - Is he flashing gang signs?

  • Morgus The Magnificent, A True New Orleans Original...

  • OH MY GOODNESS! This brings backs so many good and gay memories of growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana. I once met him at "Christmas in the Oaks." Remember that? I have so many fond memories...My dad was working detail at the time.

  • Dr. Morgus, I'm comin' by the old icehouse to use this machine. I'm bringing Drew Brees with me.

  • I love me some Morgus!

  • I was a very young child living in New Orleans when this show was popular. I remember being scared like crazy! It was fun to revisit tho; thanks for the vid.

  • I grew up in the New Orleans area and used to watch this when I was a kid. I loved it!

    Thanks for posting.

  • I loved Morgus and I can remember doing the higher order sign as a kid. I still love the begin of his show.

  • Morgus rules!! my father actually knew the orginal Chopsley.

  • :bigbow: Galactic

  • Morgus--the original (House of ) Shock Jock! A guy I lived next door to in MidCity said he was Chopsley--guess it would be kinda hard to prove otherwise!

  • I want a date with Chopsley! ;)

  • Morgus was (and still is) played by Sidney Noel Rideau, an ex New Orleans disc jockey.

  • Wonder who played Morgus and what's he up to these days?

  • @LaMomB Sid Noel=== Don't know what he's doing now- My brother once went to the television studio in Detroit to meet and hang out with him -- Years and years ago!!

  • Morgus used to scare me az a kid, too young to understand the humor. A great local NOLA production, entertaing funny content. Love Morgus!

  • I used to have nightmares of Eric as a child. Ha ha ha!

  • Hot Damn! I used to watch that guy when I was a kid! lol

You know who he reminds me of, with his mannerisms, etc.? Paul Giamatti. Although, I'm sure Paul would have been too young to play that character.

  • Excellent stuff. Too bad he never made it 'really' big. This is at least good as the Three Stooges and Abbot and Costello

  • i love morgus.if anyone is interested morgus is now being rebroadcast(not new material unfortunately) along with those bad horror movies on cox10 in new orleans@10pm saturdays and replayed @3pm sundays. morgus is still great but it seems like the movies have gotten even worse.(ha!)

  • morgus is lluminati 00.52 Lol

  • MORGUS IS DA MAN

  • this looks like my bus driver lol

  • Wow! This is so awesome to see Morgus again. As a kid growing up in N.O., he used to scare me out of my wits on Saturday nights...along with Chopsley and Eric the skull. Not to mention all the Dracula, Frankenstein, Werewolf and Invisible Man movies he showed.

  • wow! @:52 morgus mocks GOD

  • this is so throwback!

  • Morgus was awesome. I'm all grown up now but when I was a kid and I lived in suburban New Orleans this came on WGNO. I wonder if that guy is still alive. I would never miss this show when I was a kid.

  • Yes he's still alive and well Im like you his name is Sid Noel still lives in the city...

  • @JackSFA Ditto.

  • @JackSFA I lived in suburban NO too and watched on WGNO. Came on way pass my bedtime but I always sneaked to watch it. Great memories!!!

  • @JackSFA Yes... He is alive. Would love to shoot another movie before he passes on.

  • ever notice in the first back to the future movie the names of scientists in dr. browns room, when he says 120 gegawatts and goes in his room and talks to a picture of edison] morgus has them near his ceiling from back in the fiftys, I wonder if speilberg got that idea from morgus

  • this brings back childhood memories lol damn i miss new orleans...da old new orleans!

  • i WILL A LOT OF MONEY TO GET THE EPISODES OF Morgus

  • One of the greatest things about living in New Orleans was watching Morgus!! Shame that as far as I know, none of the shows exist on tape from the early 60's & 70's.

  • hey Sthrnbo1 put all the shows u have on youtube :)

  • Including the rest of us of "THE HIGHER ORDER"!

I'm so glad I taped as many shows I could in the 80's!I also edited out all the Morgus breaks out of the movies hosted and compiled them onto two VHS tapes!

  • I glad I'm not the only one that still loves morgus
