This amp has only one fault, there's kind of cross-talk between clean channel and OD1, causing, that setting gain to max will distort clean channel. Also my amp was 4 times sent back for repairs, because it was blowing power tubes regularly every 3-4 months. But I love that thing anyways :)
Trust me: Engl Savage 120 is FAR better than what you can hear in this video.
It's the most UNDERRATED head in heavy metal i suppose...everyone talks about about fireball, powerball...no match, Savage owns every other head on THE LEAD channel (for metal rythmic, I'm not talking about cleans & crunch)
It's so aggressive, so big, so deep... expensive but if you try it you will not go back.
@Nightcrawl6@Nightcrawl6 well, everything is asctually sobjective...it depends by what you have to play, a Marshall destroying a Savage sounds funny to me, even if I love Marshall and I am owner of a Jcm 800. Savage is wild, so bastard on the open chords and so deep on the palm muting...with so much gain, I wonder how u can suppose that if you have owned it. Anyway I respect your opinion, good music mates!
@fedevd You're absolutely right, most versatile metal amp out there! Might take a while though to find your sound, you get loads of options and the EQ has an amazing range! Only tweaking I did was replacing the stock power tubes that came with it.. (to Winged C SED 6550C power tubes)
I'll try to find one. music stores around here don't usually carry engl. but I am curious. my cousin plays in a metal band and he swears by his engl. says it's the best amp he's ever played on. My ex band's guitar player had a triple rec..my god that thing sounded awesome. i'd love to play them side by side.
i just don't see/hear what the big deal is. I've listened to tons of vids and sound demos. this amp sounds less heavy than a dual rec and weaker than a marshall. For $2,400 I want something to sound amazing and make me coffee at the same time. I think I'll stick to good ol american Mesa. for about half the price!
@spacemonkeyzass You have to listen to this thing live. Just plug straight in and is amazing without any pedals. I have heard it play everything under the sun with amazing clarity and note separation at insane volume levels.
@spacemonkeyzass Videos really dont show you half the deal. I went to a music store here in Copenhagen, to try it. Its a different deal, and really shows you what its about. Just ordered the Savage actually. Its quite a money ammount, but im eager like a small child waiting for his christmas presents.
@LinkinPk1fan Totally agree, NOT for blues players at all, rock players can get better... but for metal players... DAMN! you will never need a distortion pedal with this amp. Or if you do, sell your guitar, you dont know anything about tone if you would XP Great amp overall, i have played it a few times at gigs and it rocks, very reliable amp and great tone!
@theblackpacomurder or people dedicated to music, that don't spend their money on cars or video games and save up for more gear as opposed to a new game...
@theblackpacomurder I will get one one day, and I will NOT pay any more than $500 for it. I will trade my up. I have a Gibson LP from solely trading, I have only spent $400 in my entire trading trip up to it. Mark my words, I will get this amp.
sounds great, but needs to be turned up to give a better sense of what it would sound like gigging, which is what most people in the market for something in this price range need to know
@topografer Marshalls are way different from Engl - not comparable I think. I own the Savage 120, and compared to the Dual Rectifier, the Savage has more "balls" (lower mid range) and it´s louder. That´s why I went for the Savage instead for the Dual Rectifier. Change the stock tubes to KT88 and you can destroy buildings with the volume...
Cheers from Finland! I think that review is really great, 5 stars! But it would great if you downloaded english subtitled version of it also 'cause then it would totally beat all the american etc. reviews 100 to 0!! You're awesome, thanks!!

@fedevd this amp doesn´´t get a real Thrash Metal sound, i miss the kicking middle, a Marshall destroys him and still the best amps arround for Metal
