i've been to this time as a first time visitor to the states 10 years ago. there were several things which surprised me. cell phone coverage was horrible, the net was bad (for even 2000 style net). as a scandinavian, i was also surprised at the amount of electricity cables etc strung out over the town. it seems like 1950's technology. you're right in all aspects of what u say.

I really agree about small towns. It's amazing how far behind so many places are.
