Great stuff, all your videos! Hope you are planning to do lots more.
What was the name of the park you worked at in Florida? In the late seventies & early eighties my husband worked at Monkey Jungle. He was heartbroken when Hurricane Andrew destroyed it, although I see it's making a comeback.
It was also in Florida, the Silver Springs Nature Attraction. It's had its own figurative hurricanes to hit it, changing ownership several times since I was there. They got rid of much of the exotic animals I used to work with, but the natural beauty of the park still remains.
wow - that bird at 00:55 is soo red!! :-) how does it camouflage lol?
i think it is really cool how u took the photos yourself and didn't just get them from google :-) you actually got in there and took those photos! woooah that is cool!!
Thanks, Saz. And thanks for favoriting it. ^_^ Yep, they're all my photos. Some of the animals at the park I used to work at could only be fed by boat, so everyday I was out on the river as the sun came up and set, allowing me to take pictures of whatever I came across.
Alas, a super-cool job I used to have many years ago before I went off to college. I would keep my camera by my side just in case I would see anything neat, which as it turned out was quite often.
You have an eye for photography! If your teacher gig doesn't work out I'm positive with your knowledge and skill, you can get a job for National Geographic.

They're great. I just checked out your other videos. You're very talanted. You could easily work for National Geographic or someother magazine like that.
Yeah, that's a favorite of mine as well. It wasn't easy to get, but I got lucky on the timing since the chick had only just hatched and the mother was preoccupied. The people I worked for had hired a professional photographer to get the same shot the year before, but they never got it.
No, I didn't stage it. That's the way I found it. It was overhanging the water. It's the nest of a Gallinule. That ugly looking chick in the next photo is from that same nest a few days later. If you look closely at its wing, you can see a vestigial finger with a claw.

Even though my favorite "bird" of all is conspicuously missing yet again, it's yet another winner. ;-)

Thanks. You've been conspicuously missing yourself. :(

That was great. That's the main reason I like to get back to my reserve in Ontario is to experience nature. Anywho, great vid, 5 stars.:)

Yeah, they filmed lots of stuff there, including Tarzan, James Bond & Creature from the Black Lagoon.
dafttool 3 years ago
It must take a great deal of patience to get those shots. Good job!
LHWM 3 years ago
Instead of patience, think of it as avoiding actual work. :) Thanks for the comment.

I like the one with the mother crane and its chick the best. Very sweet.

dafttool 3 years ago
Cool. So that one is from the animal park you used to work at?
gruvydude 3 years ago
Yeah. They had the run of the place though. They're Sarus Cranes (from India).
dafttool 3 years ago
I also like that one at the very beginning, with the nest. Did you stage that with the flower? Do you know what type of bird's nest it was?
gruvydude 3 years ago
