Well nice one ;) although as user above said looks too posh. and Hulpa was too sluggish and not ready at all, found the lemon juice in hulpa somewhat strange.. bust way is soak it on a bit warm water for at least 2 hours, then whisk it then blend it with some chives and salt ;)..
I did it for tonight, Christmas night. We just finished to eat it, is very good! I made arabic bread to eat it with salta. My husband travelled 5 times to Yemen, he loves that country. We made salta toghether tonight. He said that it is less thick than the ones he has eaten in Yemen, but it's very good. Merry Christmas and thank you very much! We have been searching for this recipe for a long time!
It looks good but you forgot the curry powder. When making the hilba you have to use a little of lemon juice or tamarind juice because it will not allow it to fluff up. Asid goes real well withthis dish. My parents are from Yemen. Nice video.
What made me laugh was 'Shitney'. Because my mother sometimes calls it that. It's taken from the word 'Chutney' but the Yemenis pronounce it as 'Shitney'.
@aseedwamarak Thanks, it was very yummy indeed. It wasn't working with the whisk and I thought it would take too long so I made the hulba in the blender. Looking forward to sampling more Yemeni food in the future.
@TheGGJourney recipe hmm yes, but do you have the skill my friend that's the question it's not as easy as you may think it is? it needs wrist action and fingering @ the same time....... check out the group titled Aaseid on facebook, I swear it's the best food you will have very simpe. boil water add salt then self raising flour then stir it up like a cement mixture, untill ot gets soft like dumpling,

that looks like a posh salta lol! but it looks yummy. When we make hilba we keep whisking it till it turns white and it goes all light and fluffy
