  • wow, you guys made an special room particularly for greyhounds, i can see those fluffy blankets on the floor!

  • how do you exercise them? I know greyhounds don't need lots of exercising since they're considered to be couch potatoes hehe, but still. i wonder, is it enough for them to spend 30 mins off leash in a medium sized yard or is it necessary for them to have a sprint?

I'm looking for a dog to keep indoors and i really like the greyhound overall, my only concern is exercise and house breaking because i can't take it on regular walks and i don't think i can take the dog out everytime it wants to go.

  • @yummiwatch They're very lazy dog, but they do love when they get to go out. We try to walk them often but when the weather is bad, freezing cold or blazing hot, it just doesn't happen. In my experience, the younger greys (3 years or less) seem to be much more active than 4+ years old.

Greyhounds are already kennel-trained so house training isn't too difficult. You just have to keep a close eye on them until they learn that your house is an extension of their kennel and not to make a mess.

  • @JLGreyhounds thank you very much!

  • thank you so much, that has helped me a lot. Maybe it would be wise for us to wait the year or so and let her mature a little. i just don't want to be put in a situation where the dog would get stressed out from her loving on them and being so young not seeing the signs of that is enough from the dog. But when the time comes I think they would be a great dog. Your greyhound family is beautiful, thanks again

  • wow when i saw all those greyhounds i thought maybe you were foster parents for them. But to know they are all yours! What a blessing. I am thinking highly of getting one, but I have a question if you don't mind me asking. I have a 5 year old daughter that wants to carry our cat around everywhere!! I just want to know their temperment with little kids that might I say are "LOVINGLY" rough. I might wait till she is a few years older, but they are a breed I like a lot Thank you

  • @mvmof2 I'm sure you'll have to contact your nearest group and see what restrictions/advice they have, but here's what I think.

Kids need to be taught to respect the dog's space. They'll often let you lay on them and prop your feet up on 'em like in the video; other times they get annoyed & want to be alone. Greys will be done playing before kids will.

Also, they're big dogs (I've seen anywhere from 55-97lbs). They're usually very gentle but when they get excited they could knock down a kid.

  • You both are so sweet with these beautiful dogs - they're lucky to have you!!

  • 'You're in her spot'- hilarious!Beautiful dogs-you're lucky to have so many!

  • They are really lovely dogs!

  • What lovely dogs. Greyhound's are the best! x x x

  • We just lost our second wonderful Golden and are considering rescuing two greyhounds. Great vid - thanks for posting.

  • Four greyhounds? I have one

  • That was one ooolllllddddd greyhound :)

  • i am doing research on greyhounds because i am seriously thinking about getting one...and this video is helping to make up my mind....thanks for sharing your video

  • you have 4 greyhounds and THAT's the size couch you have? ;)

  • @xbriannaxbananax Haha, that's just a small couch in the den/computer room. We do have 2 others sofas... usually occupied by greyhounds.

  • Radcliff looks just like my greyhound :)

  • i wish i could own 100 dogs... though i would be nice unlike those people with like 20 dogs and neglect them! i want to be that weird dog man...

  • My greyhound does the same thing.

  • "what a rough life" really sums it up... your dogs look happy, healthy and adorable! thank you for taking care of your best friends i hope you guys enjoy many lovable years with them =)

  • Heaven - a room full of chilled greyhounds!

  • I love greyhounds. They're my schools mascot (Gilman) and sine moving to baltimore about 3 months ago I have met three and they are all the sweetest dogs! They love people but never bark at all! In fact, I'm loving my school so as an adult, I plan on buying a blue greyhound like what you had and naming him Gil. Keep making vids like this, greyhounds should be one of the most popular breeds of dogs in the world.

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaarondo! Is that on a loop or something?

One of the best songs ever

  • Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaarondo!

  • My god, they're huge, compared to my Italian Greyhound, which is the smallest greyhound breed...

  • I can't WAIT to adopt an ex-racer (or two)

  • RIP mama-dog!

  • Fabulous. It's great to see these gorgeous greys being spoilt rotten - they truly deserve it. Well done you.

  • @sunray1100-only the female greys are kept in the second story cage/pen. The boys are underneath. What you are seeing is any greyhound, male or female just want to be where mom and dad are sitting. My two will lay under the bed if that's where I am.

  • God bless these people.... Love it , four greyhounds....

  • We lost Mama-Dog (the brindle) last summer and still miss her. She was such a sweet ol' lady and the biggest female we've seen. 82lbs and almost 30" at the shoulder!

  • @JLGreyhounds Were they all ex-racers?

  • Aww Mama is adorable!!!

    Love this vid!

(and Radcliffe and your fawn girl are stunning! ... actually ... they all are!)

  • Fantastic video, thank you.

We've only got one Greyhound / Lurcher - BUT - Two Sofas!

And guess what - they still want to be where you are!

Wish I could have more - perhaps another day.

  • LOL ! The rescued greys like to be high up as their racing kennel bed is higher off ground. Funny.

  • LOL

    So typical Greys.

They go lie on top of you, if they can.

And contrary to other dogs, it's not even a territorial thing, they just want to lie where they feel best.
