I recovered, years ago. Anorexia is just something that gets ahold of you and forces you to deal with it and beat it, which I did. And this may sound strange, but I don't regret having had it. I think in life we learn about ourselves from the bad times more than the good times, and going through an ED, you come out of it wiser and stronger, like MK. It was difficult, but I'm glad I went through it.

I'm confused. I read that not anorexics, but bulimics recover 80% of the time. Totally different things. I've had bulimia and recovered fairly quickly but I can remember one of the girls in my ward dying because she had anorexia. By anorexia are you including all EDs?

I'm just glad Mary-Kate definitely seems to be past this and is much healthier. I think people should stop making eating disorder videos with her as the subject - it's wrong and it's an invasion of her privacy.

@foreverandalways408 It only stays a weakness if you allow it. People who recover think they've recovered cause they eat the average amount or whatever. No. You recover completely when you stop giving food so much thought and just eat it. It's the obsession with food. Some people "recover" and believe they don't have to eat chocolate or drink pop if they don't want to aslong as they are eating regularly. But in reality you never fully recover inless you stop the limitations and rules altogether.

Well, that's why I can relate to the issue, cause I did suffer from it, years ago. And my personal experience reinforced what doctors say - that you CAN recover fully.  Anorexia is a specific condition - extreme weight loss. If a person is not going through extreme weight loss, then that person no longer has anorexia. I no longer have it, and it appears Mary-kate no longer has it. About 80% of people recover fully.

well i had it when i was 8 and i'm now 19; i've been on/off anorexic for over 10 yrs. even though i'd say i was no longer going through extreme weightloss but i still get old insecurities that pop up occasionally and effect me. at the back of your mind, its still there.

you just learn to ignore it. you can live a normal life after but ana is NEVER fully gone.

i'm sure MK is fine now, yeh, and a healthy weight and happy, but she'll still be vunerable when it comes to food/body image

Nowadays they're both doing GREAT, like always. They're Presidents of DualStar Entertainment Company, VERY successful businesswomen and fashion designers, and MK's recent acting has gotten good reviews from tv/film critics.

And she definitely seems to have gotten over anorexia - she's a normal weight and looks very healthy.
