Don't think you can say that. In tests, Steyn has a better average & strike rate than Akram did.

Akram:

Avg - 23.62, SR - 54.6

Steyn:

Avg - 22.82, SR - 39.3

@jumpnjza2 Wasim has played 104 test matches while Dale has only played 50. Compare him when Wasim was on his 50th test match.

Wasim :

50 test matches - 21.23 avg. SR- 45.2

Steyn :

50 test matches - 22.82 avg. SR - 39.3.

And let us not forget that Wasim bowled in places like Pakistan, India, SriLanka, Sharjha and many Asian grounds with success. Dale Steyn (The best ATM) does not perform well in Aisa. Example the World Cup 2011 or Ind vs SA (10dulkars 200*) or SA vs Pak in Dubai.

@imthemess Regardless of the fact he played mostly in Aisa, he is still a tremendous bowler. There is no bowler, in this era, that could match a bowler from late 70's to early 2000's. Steyn is best atm but no where near the calibre of W & W's or even Pollock & Donald.

@walE3dk imo = in my opinion .. yeah I seen cricinfo all time list fazal was there.. i'd rate him very highly his first 100 wickets came on his 22nd test match,, fought as a lone warrior also not to forget khan mohd for his 57 wickets in 13 tests matches with an avg of 25 but sadly he got injured..

@imthemess Waqar was very good, infact the best imo, depth bowler. He would usually end such games on a positive mind set. Imran once said "Waqar was not as talented as Wasim but he was far more strong and tough mentally". There is another video where Srilanka require 1 run of qualifly on run-rate of 6 balls and C.Vaas is batting. Waqar then bowled him to secure the win.

I remembered guls terrible test avg of 34.. in tests I'd rate asif higher than akthar,, over all shoaib is better but no where near to Fazal-Imran-Akram & Waqar.. he wasnt utilised properly .. oh & thanks happy new year cheers !!

Shoaib was never match ready, he was injured too often. So i would not say that Pakistan wasted him. That would be a bit too harsh. Shoaib and PCB are equally responsible for his loss. But was a genuine match winner. Asif was pure class - the best (2010's) and was better than Steyn imo.

Amir said "You can find 100's of bowlers like me in Pak but there will never be a bowler like Asif, again". That sums up his class.
