It is a good conductor or electricity, so it would make good wiring, and it doesn't tarnish (or hardly tarnishes), so it is wonderful for jewelry. There is not an abundance of it, and it is hard to get so it is valuable. The government can't print it, like they do money. The more they print to "stimulate the economy" the less value your dollar has.
