@muttsma. Scientific method was invented by Ibn al haytham, the first scientist, he paved the way for newton, einstein and so on. You can read this on wikipedia. Obviously it was his hard work that brought this about, not religion, but I believe that islam facilitates patience and hard work.

If you believe they were written by god or inspired by god, then you will make them work for you. Achieve that for a couple of generations and Islam, Christianity and all the rest of the dogmatic ideologies would be so greatly weakened by reason and freedom of thought that their so-called holy texts would become historical literature much like Plato's 'Republic'. Once that is achieved, people like me will not be needed as much to stand up for reason and fairness.

I would not wish to live forever in the form of life as I know it now, since it is inconceivable to me how that could be interesting if the body continued to age. If one remained the same age, would this apply to everyone else around me? If so, would this mean there would be no new human life created? My atoms will continue for a very long time anyway - is that living in some sense?
