@acerb45666555 Actually this is Byzantine style. It's typical for the orthodox church especially on the Balkans. It's because of the influence that came from Byzantium. If you go in Greece, you'll hear the same art of chanting (of course in Greek and not in Bulgarian ;)). But it is really beautiful. When it comes to sound, it's deeper and...heavier (if I might use such an adjective) than the Gregorian chant (which is, I think, the most popular chanting in the catholic world at least in Europe).

You are right this is Byzantine style however Bulgarian Church modified it and thus become a bridge between Byzantium and Russia. To get the things more complicated one of the most famous and founder of Byzantine style church singing St Ioan Kukyzelis was from Bulgaria. Of course to put ETNICITY LABEL in such a beautiful music is wrong.My humble opinion is that any song of praise to the LORD regardless if this a bird song,Monteverdi psalm, Bach oratorio or Greek chant is worth listening
