Ele é uma lenda... hoje, aos 70 anos e na ativa. Com tanta gente que não sabe cantar e nem tem voz para isso, é uma pena que não tenham talentos como Tom, que, realmente, sabe cantar qualquer estilo de música.
You say Hannah Montana, I say The Rolling Stones
You say Owl City, I say Led Zeppelin
You say Jonas Brothers, I say The Beatles
You say Justin Bieber, I say Queen
You say Taylor Swift, I say The Doors
95% of teens these days listen to the same crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy & paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die
jus plain old Rock 'n Roll!..it's amazing how superb the sound of the instruments & the voices are sooo clear in that discotech studio!..i love it! =o)
Guy was one helluva muthfucka R&B singer, still is. Makes me laugh when I hear the press make excuses for crackheads like Whitney Huston "Oh she is just getting old"....Yeah OK, old at 40. Meanwhile Jones who is 70 can stll blow the roof off of Madison square garden, or Roy Orbison who had a bad ticker could still blow the sky into outerspace. It;s incredible to me the losers today who are propped up by sheer PR as if they are equals to guys like this.
All these comments, geez. This was perfect. Band and all. This was 1964. Stop sounding like a young fool by making comments you know nothing about. This was all good and the musicians all made names for themselves in their own right. Critics you are not.. stop it .
@entenn Nobody else commenting on this video is interested in what opinion you have to say which version is better, so shut the fuck up and go somewhere else!
I used to laugh at my mother who loved Tom Jones, but I have to say I can see why now: He looks good, he moves good, and his voice kicks major ass. At 70, he's still going strong.
If Tom Jones would have went into rock music instead of doing the music that he did most of the time, he would be known today as one of the greatest rock singers in history. Not enough people know of him.
I rem. my grandmother saying she met him, she was his make - up person, i have a Pic of them at our old house on Hesby Way back in the 70s, the house i grew up in in the 90s, born in 94 - 08, HE WAS IN OUR LIVIN' ROOM.
this version of Ray song is strongest of all, there is fantastic drummer, Chris Slade, with his miniatures; listen too original Mills song, "b" side of G.G.G. of Home, "If I Had You", and famousTom Jones cover , Get Ready, Hard To Handle e.t.c,.. and all oldies Tom Jones & Squires cover or original song.. Breathless, Little by little.. e.t.c.
Once, an old man said to me Tom Jones had problems with his vocal chords at the beginning of his career, his high notes were uncontrolled, he had to learn how to sing and he felt very depressed. Well, after watching this I think he has always had a gifted voice. Thou, if the old man was someway right, I would like to know... does any1 have news about it?
Nope he only had problems with vocal chords when he had nodule around 70-80 if i remember right..
One soprano back in the day checked him, if he sang right and yes he did, and also asked why you (tom) come to classical training, we can make you full tenor, but he didint want, cos he loved pop music.
He was always gifted singer and he sang closer to tenor range aka High Baritone, sang high D, High C' easily.. Check Ive Been Loving You Too Long by Tom Jones, high D at the end.
Didn't know he used to rock the roll in his younger days... If only he had turned to hard rock instead of pop music although some of the groovier stuff is cool...
As with so many 60s stars, they could have made great records but they had a manager pulling their strings. At that time, class system still intact, only the very strongest (Beatles, Stones, to some extent Kinks, Who) could overcome that influence.
'myrecordcollection' is right- this is tight AS HELL. And yea, I wish he'd stuck with this style of music. It grabs the gut and the feet and get's ya movin'. Really suits his voice perfectly.
I am new to this youtube thing and have not seen most of these video's of Tom Jones. I'm in my mid 50's and remember him through the years. However, I had not seen this earlier stuff ever. He was awesome then and awesome now!
this song, Chills & Fever and Skye Boat Song ( isn't available full video clip ) are fantastic classic Rock performs, but in 1964 some Decca boss put this songs in drawer
