  • Our Fathers knew thee, Rome of old,

    And evil is thy fame;

    Thy fond embrace, the galling chain;

    Thy kiss, the blazing flame.

    Our martyred Fathers dying words

    As at the stake they stood

    Bid us resist thee to the end,

    Words written in their blood.

  • Cameron of the Covenant stood,

    And prayed the battle prayer,

    And with his brother, side by side,

    Took up the cross of Christ and died,

    Upon the Moss of Ayr.

  • the protestant faith for ever! thanks to our forefathers!

  • Cameron was a Protestant, a Presbyterian and a Hero of the Christian faith!

  • The Celtic Church which was founded by Columba was independant of the Popes, and so remained for centuries. It was chiefly through the influence of Queen Margaret, the saxon wife of Malcolm Canmore (married about 1069) that the Romanizing process set in. Her 3 sons, reigning in succesion, continued her Church policy. At the end of the 15th century the Scottish clergy had become so corrupt,that the people were prepared to listen to the call of the Reformation and claim their liberties.

  • The Celtic/Gaelic Church was in flat opposition to Rome from the time of Columba until the Romanizing process set in. There can be no doubt about that. We have correspondence from the 7th century which clearly shows us it was the same theology as the 16th century Reformers. I highly recommend James Aitken Wylie's 'History of the Scottish nation'. Thank you for sharing the video.

  • They were, as ancients, part of the ancient faith, the true faith, the Catholic faith. Scotland was a Catholic country for much longer than it has been a "Protestant" one. Forced on the people. Top down. Look at Barra for example, forever Catholic. The false Protestant doctrines were never enforced there, and the people stayed true. Same with many remote parts of the country.

  • Makes you proud to adhere to rhe Reformed Faith.

  • And prayed the battle prayer, and with his brother side by side, took up the cross of Christ and died upon the moss of Ayr.

  • Cameron of the Covenant stood

  • Momento Mori ! Remember Cameron, Cargill and Renwick. Freedom has a price.

  • We salute the memory of the titanic thirty eight year (1660-88) struggle of the Covenanters against tyranny, oppression and arbitrary rule. Were it not for their sacrifice we would not possess the civil and religious liberties we enjoy today.
