Very good occupation, the TS alone is big bucks you could work for another government agency or a contractor, but get that degree, and get your ham radio ticket.
@stratmemph I don't think he'll get chewed by the government for disclosing that information. The Warsaw Pact engagements are over and he's already retired. As long as he didnt let that information fly while he was in, I'm sure hes fine.
@VAFISHERMAN I signed up for this job last week. I have to take my DLAB test tomorrow but I'm hoping I can keep it and perhaps learn Arabic. I'm sure I'll get plenty of excitment with Arabic because of all the growing tension in the Middle East. Wish me luck.
Congratulations on a great selection. Study hard and learn all you can in school, it will help later. Get as much education as you can. If you decide you really like it go for Officer Candiate School and become a General Officer where you can make a difference. In combat stay alert. Watch out for your buddies. Stay safe. <*####<
I did this as MOS 98C/982A from 1956-1976 analyzing and reporting on Warsaw pact and chi com communications. (manual morse and voice), 14 years in Germany, 2 years Japan, 1 year VIetnam, 1 year Alaska. Retired as CW2 at age 37. 35 years later I still look at it as some of the best years. I LOVED IT. The retirement checks and medical benefits will last till I leave. You could do worse. ASA (Army Security Agency) ALL THE WAY!! -•####-
@willman18696 I have been away from the job since 1976 and I'm sure I wouldn't recognize the equipment or the techniques used today. As far as job satisfaction, I found it is amazing to uncover critical intelligence and be able to report on it knowing it is saving US lives, or putting a hurt on the enemy. Signal Officer would be OK but might be more routine. Question you need to research is career path, assignments and promotion opportunities. Good Luck! Post back if you chose 35W.
they kinda make this job look boring...
