  • I cook breakfast every morning--waffles, hash browns and eggs. Only takes 30 min total to make and eat (now that I've got my groove down). :D

  • @sluggo06 -- Starting in the 1960s, Margaret Keane, an artist in San Francisco, painted and sold pictures of kids with huge, sad eyes.  Rather than "creepy" I would call it "homely".

  • I think this is one of my favorite episodes.

  • Good Eats is in a category all by itself, no other cooking show can match Alton's unique take on cooking. W is awesome. "Don't you ever scrub this with an abrasive, or I will hunt you down!" It's been a few seasons since I have watched regularly, have some catching up to do.

    she is. in one scene, when AB visits the dentist, he says that W "volunteers there part time". like a lot, or most of the actors on Good Eats, they comprise various roles.

  • If there is food in the pan to disperse the heat, fumes are not an issue. Alton Brown is the best cooking show I have ever seen. I continue to watch his show on TV, on my computer, and even on my iPhone when not at home. I love his sense of humor. I love his recipes. Most of all, I love the way he explains the reasons for doing things so I have more understanding when it comes to experimenting.

    We love you Alton, keep up the good work.

    Alton Brown and the way he does his show. Also, its just a nice show with a great atmosphere that can make you happy after long or depresing day.

  • Good show.

    But the non stick coating is bad for you, it's similar to Scotchguard made by Dupont, at high temp (less than you would think) it creates a gas that is toxic, gives flu like symptoms, it was on 60 minutes, ps they found Scotchguard in the blood of babies, cos they crawl around on the carpet, that was on the same show.

  • this is a cooking show, but it's still funnier than any show on tv, and you can actually learn from it. alton brown is awesome.

  • EDIT: replace the butter with bacon grease... The end result is a much thinner 'heavier' (grease 'memeber?) egg that is freakin great on toast.

  • It's a Lodge Chef Skillet.

  • Anyone know who makes that cast iron skillet he is using in the video? I like the curved bottom of the pan as apposed the the hard angles in most cast iron cookware.

  • He needed another cast iron pan to fry the eggs in. Teflon will kill you...! A well seasoned Cast iron pan will out perform a Teflon pan any day and cast iron will last for several generations unlike the Teflon crap you have to replace every few years. In case you heven't heard cast iron is making a big come back...!!!

  • true :O and as much as i support cast iron, teflon pans are generally easier to get and dont require as much greasing or care as cast iron--as well, teflon is only harmful after it's heated past 500 degrees...most would use cast iron anyway if they need /that/ kinda heat.

  • And the slab bacon looks bright orange to me. It could be the video quality, your monitor, or that's how it really looks like.

    But almost all meat will oxidize and turn brown (and under fluorescent lights, greenish) if it's not treated with chemicals. That's why when you grab a huge heap of ground beef, the inside will look icky. They just worry about the outside looking pretty.

  • I actually like it when the butter begins to brown, it gives the eggs a slight nutty flavor and I love it....but that's just me I guess

  • Episode #7 was the 10th anniversary special. It's on youtube somewhere if you search for 10th anniversary Good Eats... It's an hour long.
