i was thinking about having a small wood powered turbine like this to power my house idea being too run it about 4 hours in the early morning too charge 10 car batteries then not run it until the next morning. anyone out there done something like this before would it work will the 10 batteries last 12 hours? will one or 2 car alternators charge them in that time?
Dude awesome turbine! Now we wanna see how much work she can do by coupling it to a high efficent electric generator. Then we want to see it go solar which is highly feasable I do have some ideas on that part but there are plenty of good posts on youtube on the subject. But your turbine appears in my view to be the missing link to the elusive efficient electricity production from solar Good job!
Very Very Cool, this is the type of steam engine I will be making, I've spent the last 10+ hours studying all about these bad boys. Thanx, Awesome Video.
All you need now is a spring condensor and a boiler feed pump to recirculate the steam and a water gauge and feed system so the boiler doesn't run dry. Then you will have a fully sustainable source of power :)
The turbine has a really "healthy" sound! Smooth bearings. With the boiler, that is rated for 200 psi air, not steam there is a huge difference in steam pressure and air pressure. AIr is just compressed, and stays compressed, steam is rapidly expanding, plus there is a fire underneath compromising the steel. I agree around 90 PSI is complete max. A great turbine, what is the impeller made of?

would you hate it if that can spins right off and slams your face

the top rpm to me sounded more like 3300 rpm...thats only my simple guess

how much power do you think you could get out of this, for generator purposes.

Make sure it doesent run dry and use some boiler water treatment additives to stop it rusting.
Superb turbine, very smooth.

Impeller was cut from piece of plain steel and is coated with a polymer.

@guitarsncarz hey so the rating on a steam boiler is deferent than on air if so what would make a good steam boiler
