you clearly know little about boating. if you look behind the black boat initially there is hardly any white spray.this is because it was stationary. moments before the collision the black boat begins to thrust... because in a boat, you have to move to turn. the only way to avoid a collision would be to thrust forward and turn. it was too late. obviously they believed the japanese ship was not going to go through with their attack. they were wrong.
well they purposefully placed themselves in the way of the japanese whaling boat, so its not like there wasnt enough time for them to move. and besides that ship collision avoidance rules dictate that the smaller, more agile ship is the one that has to move and is also in that responsibility and at fault if it fails.
on another note... i do think commercial whaling, especially when it is outlawed, should be opposed. the sea shepherd just doesnt do it right, causing this and blaming others.
there is a youtube video of the crew moments before the incident. the captain clearly says "shut off the motors" they then talk about how they have had a good day. all this time you can see the japanese ship a long way away in the background. you can also clearly hear that the motors are off and the crew are just resting away from the whaling ship. finally, the whaling ship changes course and quickly cuts toward the ady gill. see if you can find the video and then tell me what you think...

you clearly know little about boating. if you look behind the black boat initially there is hardly any white spray.this is because it was stationary. moments before the collision the black boat begins to thrust... because in a boat, you have to move to turn. the only way to avoid a collision would be to thrust forward and turn. it was too late. obviously they believed the japanese ship was not going to go through with their attack. they were wrong.

well they purposefully placed themselves in the way of the japanese whaling boat, so its not like there wasnt enough time for them to move. and besides that ship collision avoidance rules dictate that the smaller, more agile ship is the one that has to move and is also in that responsibility and at fault if it fails.
on another note... i do think commercial whaling, especially when it is outlawed, should be opposed. the sea shepherd just doesnt do it right, causing this and blaming others.

there is a youtube video of the crew moments before the incident. the captain clearly says "shut off the motors" they then talk about how they have had a good day. all this time you can see the japanese ship a long way away in the background. you can also clearly hear that the motors are off and the crew are just resting away from the whaling ship. finally, the whaling ship changes course and quickly cuts toward the ady gill. see if you can find the video and then tell me what you think...
