From all Crossovers vehicles in the market offering 4WD but no low range, Tiguan is one of the best options in the market along with the Forester. You name the model and you will find many ways where the Tiguan or Forester outperform it, especially on the Off Road test. If we talk about the Freelander, well, it has a Terrain Response system, which acts as low range gear box, and there is no doubt it is a very good one, but its way more expensive than VW or Subaru.

@zpflkdfs Not really, Patriot is another crossover....and it doesnt have low range...if you want to mention a model from Jeep without going to far (i.e. Wrangler) I would say Liberty...really good SUV, except for that disappointing MPG figure.

@agispro The only option really good to consider is the Freelander - Great on road better than a forester and stronger offroad than a tiguan

@SinboMintonScarlett If you want off-road you dont buy a forester unless you like looking at the same bit of countryside for a looong time:) And if you want an SUV that does everything get a Land Rover Discovery. A set of good tyres makes the world of difference. :)

@SinboMintonScarlett Well, not really....They have a very similar performance...none of them has low range, but they do very well on off-road conditions and can go where other crossovers cannot go. If you want off road with a car in the same segment, get a Vitara, it does have Low Range for serious off roading.

IF you want really off road buy Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wragnler, Mercedes G or Nissan Patrol (older models of course) : )
