  • Only the band could have the bass player play the fiddle... the drummer step up front to sing and play mandolin... and the piano player step back to play the drums...

    ...

Everyone in that group could play a half a dozen instruments...Especially Garth... very talented group of musicians.... So much more to them than their record releases. Like the grateful dead.

  • i partyed with Levon and Rick 1983 in Philadelphia

  • Absolutely fantastic song & musicians. Where are they all now, when we need them?

  • Robbie and Emmilou are still HOT!

  • the movie is the last waltz directed by martin scorcesse

  • Robbie's guitar is a Gibson Citation, that thing costs 33000 dollars........

  • God, they were all so beautiful. So hard to believe this much time has passed! Makes me feel a mess!

  • Richard Manuel does a hilarious sounding vocal bit in 2:38-2:39 ... haha. i love it.

  • He was a character, all right. We lost him (and Rick) much too soon.

  • WoW...they sure dont make em like this anymore.

  • it may have been recorded later and added to the master recording.

  • Who is playing bass...? Never realized there is no bass player in sight before.

  • I guess no one here was on bass. Danko usually did but he plays the fiddle for this tune.

  • @andrewptob It's an overdub. Probably Danko.

  • try also to watch our mtv "Tamse Remastered"

  • Emmylou Harris is an Angel! :-)

  • Que vos E. Harris tu eres la reina del Missisipi

  • Comprai il triplo L.P. già nel 1978, poi negli anni a venire il dvd di the Last Waltz. Leggenda semplicemente. Comunque il mio eroe rimane sempre Neil Young.

  • Levon's voice in its prime... pure soul

  • good comment .stlcardfan iwould as well !

  • Geez Emmylou...to this day you could wreck a happy home.

I'd crawl naked through a field of gravel just to flag down the laundry truck that carried her panties.

  • Damn dude, calm down there. LOL!

  • stlcardfan...10-4 on the Emmylou....."That girl could make a crippled rabbit mount a grizzly bear" as my old buddy scotty used to say.......Cheers from TX / Fat Boy Slim

  • She's like some sweet angel, bet that's what all The Band memebrs were thinking when recording this...

  • The best ever...just the BEST

  • what set/performance/video is this from? i remember seeing them play "the weight" with the staples and it was on the same set as this one.... i REALLLLY need to see that video.. please let me know if anyone knows where to find it!

  • this video come from the DVD-movie "the last waltz" of my collection , I've done a copie & an extract, & put on-line for our pleasure ...

    bye , friends....

  • thanks very much - you should probably put up "the weight" as well...

  • Add Further up on the Road please

  • futher up on the road... amazing!!!

  • It's from the film "The Last Waltz", the farewell performance of The band directed by Martin Scorsese.

You can find it anywhere, it's on DVD and it's a classic.Enjoy it!!.

  • Too bad the lead up to this scene, in which Rick Danko takes Scorcese for a tour of a music studio and he plays a portion of "Sip The Wine" was cut. It made what Robbie was saying a good segway into this music.

  • That's beautiful.

  • I like E.Harris, The Band and I like this song. This was one of the highlights of this concert. One of the last one of both? So I´m thinking..please give me a notice if there is something new, I don´t know, thanks

  • Simply Beautiful!!

  • My favorite part of the Last Waltz for sure. Love this song and love the the Band!!

  • the best emmylou piece you'll ever see !!!
