  • Love it !!! Thank you for this video and i hope some people learn something from it because what you are talking about its sadly true, i've had people ask me where am from and when i say am dominican they say "oh really? i thought all dominicans were black" i really dislike that so i always tell them how wrong they are. Very Proud to be a beautiful Dominican woman!!!

  • i love itttt

  • Yo who wants some Brugal?

  • im so happy to have found this video you are so right and people dont realize the struggle that we go through to explain to people that not every domincian person is the same....the question that i hate the most is when people ask me so how did your family make it? what do they mean how we made it? its a real insult because not everyone is the same.....i can write about this topic for days but bottom line is thank you for this video

  • Yo im a afro Dominicano and proud

  • I cant stop watching this video its mad true

  • you rock. ;] Add me on facebook girl ! URL: Ruddyfeliz2

  • do dominicans marry a lot of african americans? i just read that afro-latinos have the highest interracial marriage rate and the vast majority of who they marry are african americans.

  • I agree with u mami pero i fucked it up after i left DR i got getto

  • you know we "dominicans" talk loud because we what to be heard get our beautiful culture in your thick heads mierda no hay gente de mente

  • are you dominican

  • @16alejandramj no duh

  • U gettin a lil too deep with this ish lol the flag? Plantains? Really.

  • I agree so much with you! on everything! Especially on the whole "if you're dominican, ur black". Sometimes I'm called that. People from our country come in all colors and yes there are some black people in our country but a VERY small percent (11%) and most of that is cause by Haitian immigration. 73% of our people are Mulatto (mixed) and 16% are white.

The last part of your video spoke to me the most. Love who you are and love your country!

    VIVA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA!

  • @AceMONEYxD oh for sure! im NATURALLY, dark blonde, medium skin, brown eyes, moms from Santo Domingo, & my dads from el campo from the dominican republic, i have aunts as dark as oprah & as light as mariah carey. Seriously, open your eyes people.

  • your hott....

  • all dominicans play baseball too...

  • Love Thyself. Thats alll I got to say.

  • Platenos Is good stop worrying about what other people think young Lady. I would never accept this thinking from a child of mine. Do you think you are worried too much about what other cultures think of you too much.

  • wowww...i love your pride.......but the fact is that some people love to prejudice againts anything that speak spanish....

  • You mentioned Amelia Vega Two times.

  • we definitely need more dominicans like you!!!! :)

  • one thing that many aa will talk about is how the africans who came to the western hemisphere are the 'true hebrew israelites'. some caribbeans from english speaking islands get into this, as well. i wonder if afro-latinos ever talk about this?

  • Hi you are an example of a smart Caribbean girl. U know and most importantly read the history of your country. I also hate the stereotyping of the Spanish Caribbean as well. Cuba, Puerto Rico & The Dominican Republic may have been colonized by Spain but their identities and culture are different. BTW I'm from St Vincent & The Grenadines (part of the English speaking Caribbean countries) but living in Canada now . Oh I love Spanish Caribbean girls and besides being smart, u are very sexy.

  • Nice vid but u talk about stereo types but then you make vids on Dominicans actin English or Colombian when those races can take that offensive cuz you aren't really neither or them making you act off of stereotypes

  • You are beautiful ma. I am a Dominican living in santiago de los caballeros. I was bron in New York City Lower East Side. I like your style in videos. You are very talented and open minded. What's good? Do you have a facebook?

  • OMG! I don't know who you are but I swear I LOVE YOU! Thank you! I know i'm not the only one who would agree that some dominicans in DR look white too-.- My mom is Half puertorican italian & half white, My dad is full dominican. I look WHITE & i don't have a dominican accent because I am always with my mother&we have a african american family because of my sisters marrying & having kids with african americans. I don't know spanish much, but THANK YOU for sayin that you just literally made my day!

  • I wish more dominicans kids our age could watch this. I'm tired of all the stereotypes brought on our culture (yeah, i know other cultures have their chunk of negative stereotypes as well) and all we have are a significant amount of teens just fueling the hell out of them. I also can't stand when people tell me "You don't like reggaeton and you're Domimican??" uhm.. i have no read to listen to music in which 90% of its contained lyrics refer to sex. Its just not me. I'm my own person.

  • @IlikepurpleXP *need

  • 3:04 are you proud to say que tambien tienes sangre taina? You might have no african at all. The indians were dark too, you know. Peace and you're cute. I live in stgo. y tu?

  • Ecuador imports more platanos to the US than the Dom. Rep... way more platanos!

  • I agree!

  • menol tu ta buena

  • . Excellent message . Its tough out there when the uneducated masses run the show . Great spokesperson for the Dominican Diaspora . Keep up good Work ..

  • Your really giving a good mesage to all those people that likes to judge dominican people !

  • WOOW LOTS OF RESPECT FOR YOU! AND WE ARENT BLACK STUPID WE WHERE INDIANS!! YESS INDIANS BEFORE CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS CAME TO OUR COUNTRY BECAUSE HE DISCOVERED OUR COUNRTY THINKING IT WAS AMERICA.. ON HIS YOURNEY TOO INDIA WHERE HE WANTED TO GO IN THE FIRST PLACE.. THEN CAME THE REST OF THE EUROPEANS AND THE SLAVES SOO THATS WHY WE ARE MIXED OF ALL THOSE ARE ALL FACTS ! ( I'M DUTCH SOO MAYB MY ENGLISH ISNT SO GOOD)

  • @DD0MINIQU3 we were also black because ancestors were from Spain, Africa and were native American.

  • @DD0MINIQU3 We were Tainos (Indigenous People of the Americas)..Indians are from India (remember Christopher Columbus called us "Indians" because he thought he was in India), but yes on the rest you are right :).

  • @DBarnett212 Why are you so angry? Who gives a shit if "other Latinos don't like us"??

  • @BluetifuI That is right represent the Afro Latinos proudly since their are different Latino cultures & they are all different.

  • @sportsmarvel UNLIKE AMERICANS HAVE NONE

  • Very good presentation of our dominican culture. Yo said so much true about the misperception about dominicans in the United States; we need more people like to promote our culture and to open the doors to the American society of who really are dominicans. Good for you! You are my ambassador of the good will!

  • preach it giirl!!! <3 you're my new best friend <3

  • GOD BLESS UR MIND

  • awesome video! u GO girl!

  • You are gorgeous!

  • So speaks so articulate, but facts are little off

  • YOu have such a good message your a true representation of what we would like to rep DR as ...i cant beleive wer so proud of being a beautiful cheerfull people but yet lots deny and are confused about their roots after working out of slavery and etc. and alots dominicans claiming to be spiniard when spainiards deny them its horrible im light ish brown kinky headed broad nose and i know where that comes from and why we so diveres =)

  • isnt that flag in the back, the Panamanian flag?

  • @kagetoke75 no no

  • I don't see any harm in adorning yourself with the flag of a country.

  • I never said black people are uneducated or loud look at the video again I just think and if did come out that way then it was just wrong wording or timing but I never in any way say that or intended to as a human rights activist the last thing I want to promote is ignorance.

  • @jesuspearlamericus Rogielo Pineda is a Dominican writer I admire, who Doesn't necessarily identify as black but does not participate in the Negation of Africanity that many afro-people partake in( not just Dominicans). For me When people SO viamently deny something so obvious whether you call it negro, blackness. W/E it points to self denial. Dominicans are the BEST at straightening hair and also the most "african" hispanics. Think about it.

  • @Fuzzbabby A vast majority of African American women straighten their hair. Al Sharpton also straightens his hair.

  • I agreed with most of the things you said, but you said that Dominicans aren't loud and uneducated like Blacks. So yo believe that black people are uneducated and loud? I know you said your proud of being of African descent, but it did come off as if u see black people in a negative light

  • @RaeshonM she didnt say it like that she said not all of us are black african looking or uneducated i dont think refering to blacks being low in education though?

  • I agree with everything you say.. I feel like I have to defend our culture so much to so many people, including other Dominicans.. I lived in Santiago for 7 years during my childhood, and gained an appreciation for the REAL culture we have, and not just eating chimi's, platano con salami, brugal, and hearing Omega or dembow.. Unfortunately I don't think much is gonna change unless (like you said), we the youth understand and try to make a difference..

  • Bitch speak up!!!

  • My dear you are profound! Your ability to express yourself and project the positive message of success through national heritage and self awareness is keen. Whoever among your peers (a few years younger and five to seven years older that catches your heart-felt desire for your generation and yours and their children to come, will be the better off for having taken a pro-active approach to continued living. I will be happy to be reached out to: exclusivelygreggo@hotmail.com (Gregory Y.)

  • @ ckhid hope i am not hearing you right ,too pretty to be domincan ? wow

  • @cocaroots you need to listent ot the whole film. You're taking my comment out of context. I didnt' say that, she made a statement about that that I couldn't believe

  • what? you're too pretty to be Domincan? who says that?

"Black" means 2% of 'negro' blood aka the "1 drop" rule. THey want to dissolve that now because BIG PERCENTAGES identify as 'black' . Dominicans have been termed as 'negros' though by whites since b4 the 60s. View the Negro Baseball leagues.. NY Cubans, etc.

  • Black is not a race at all, it's just people effected by the diaspora worldwide as you obviously know. The problem comes in to me, we don't get taught this and connect with each other to understand our true power. Our histories are hidden and we think our differences are reasons to be divdied.

  • @ckhid totally aggree

  • Brazil is the most effected place by the Diaspora to date. Yet i gaurantee you in AMerica, priveledged Brazilians might deny this. Just the way the world works, we're taught to hate black / hate color.

I feel you on a lot of this stuff though. It can be summed up as "American Values Today".. our culture is Sex, drugs, 'the now', and capitalism . I dont think this will change.

  • Girls Wombs are polluted by the time they're 25... guys are too much of a player by habit to be a solid father.......it's all bad in many ways. not just 1 race either.. that's why the US IQ averages are getting lower every generation at an alarming rate... poor genetics and poor parenting... wow.. ic ould go in on this lol but i'm going to stop here

    MUCH LOVE

  • damn you're beautiful

  • YO como platano to lo dia

  • You're a smart woman! Good video!

  • al fin una quisquiyana con inteligencia y dignidad. tu porta bien . bien dicho mami

  • baila conmigo! baila conmigo! lol i always remember that part from White Chicks. i wish we had more people from the DR out here in Los Angeles. they seem like cool people. my parents are mexican but my fav music is Merengue.. i cant stand Banda and that other crap lol
