  • The xbox 360 controller sucks for arcade games I am a Microsoft fan boy and I resent that remark even if it is true very very true well just the plus control pad sucks and I use those for arcade games

  • dont mess with dig dug or he will blow you up

  • Someone actually said this was ripping off minecraft?????

    Hahahaha!!! You fucking imbecile!

  • I always get the highest score in dig dug. I AM THE MASTER in dig dug. my favorite arcade game evar

  • How can this be a rip off if it was earlier made than minecraft?

  • @rofflvideo he was kidding. I learned that the embarassing way.

  • Do this support full hd(1080p) on the ps3?

  • THIS IS SUCH A RIP OFF OF MINECRAFT! loljks I remember playing this as a kid, great game ;)

  • @DjKreed wow dude. Dig dug came WAY WAY before minecraft. So switch it around. Minecraft is a rip off of dig dug.

  • @GamerNinjaX did you see the loljks? I was joking, this game was fantastic! And way before Minecraft

  • @DjKreed oops sry my mistake. lol XD ok ill stop now

  • @GamerNinjaX I'm not mad, just amazed by your stupidity

  • @hejjagedu Im just amazed that you wont shut up and just carry on with your life. Now lets not be douchebags and not fight on the internet. Im not here on the internet to fight so just leave it be.

  • @GamerNinjaX sry about that. didnt see the loljk

  • i grew up playing this and metal slug at the local arcade....time well spent :)

  • I have Dig Dug on my "Namco Arcade Classics Plug and Play TV Games" Damn this game rules!!

  • digdug is soo addicting

  • Dig Dug. One of my favorites.

  • goreiest game evarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • haha my hi-score is 55040 :D

  • Always played the Dig Dug cabinet in Spaghetti Works while waiting on my table. I grew up a 90s kid playing 80s games and loving every bit of them. Planning on getting an atari soon.

  • This IS the first game i ever remember playing on atari! Damn life was simple....and better

  • I usually hate downloading games that I can get in a CD or cart form somehow, but this looks awesome.

  • I dislike the fact that the music only plays when he walks--it's cool music and it's disappointing to hear it go away when you stop moving.

  • there's the X-Arcade stick that works with PC, Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox360, PS3, Dreamcast, and PS2 with different adapters. There's also a huge double-stick with a trackball you can get. someday I'll have one... someday

  • The pump is called 'PUMA'! Don't belive meh? Look at the pump in the background

  • @randomkiden

    It says pump.

  • "Hey-hey guys, follow me. There's some free candy over here." :3

  • people who are fans of Dig Dug little trivia

Dig Dug's name is Taizo Hori

he appears in the Mr. Driller games as mr driller (Susumu Hori) Dad and as a playable character

  • this was my favorite version

  • Dig Dug>Chuck Norris

  • @whazmynameson hell ya bro!!!!

  • Wait.

    Ps3?

    BUYING 101%!

  • i love you.

  • i noticed that's not the dig dug we know...thats a smurf poser o.o(this is sarcastic, if you dont notice)

  • LOVED what you said about a good arcade controller!!! ;D

  • how do u even play them?? can't find the download

  • Thanks to this vid, I now have game plan next time I play the Plug and Play TV Games version

  • Best Classic Namco game ever.

  • I'm sure the PS3 doesn't even realize it's running this. It'd be like an elephant noticing the butterfly on its back.

  • that was on the gameboy advance

  • no space Gar gee i wonder why

  • My cousin has a graphic updated 2 player version of this game on Gamecube and it was awesome. I would play it again. And again, and again and again and again...

  • Mark's pretty deft at Dig Dug -- nice playing.

  • M.A.M.E.

    Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator

    google it.

I'll let the xbox vs ps controller favoritism slide.

  • "He hey guys follow me theres some free candy over here" win

  • A dream come true for those of us who settled for Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, Colecovision, Sega Genesis versions.

I have the MAME32 emulator on the PC which allows even more customization. But to be able to play the EXACT copy of the arcade game, from the demo screens to the insert coin and high score menus all on the PS3 in the living room couch is AWESOME! KEEP 'EM COMING!

  • I am not impressed...the PS3 is millions times more powerful than the Dig Dug original hardware, they could at least improve the graphics...

  • The whole point of these classic games is to have them in original form as they were when we were in the arcades playing them. If you're older & played these back then, you can relate. We all know today's computers and consoles are 1000 times more powerful & yes, they could improve graphics, BUT many of us just want to go back in time as it was back then. Maybe enhanced versions IN ADDITION TO would be ok.That's why all these retro arcade collections have been so popular on all systems.

  • @jeffhanson1 It's hard to find classic games, and besides they didn't improve any graphics or controls here, it's the same thing.

  • Why repair if it´s not broken

  • @TheMVRules - They probably just wanted to release it arcade perfect.

  • No offense dig dug nerds; but i agree with TheMVRules

  • @TheMVRules - Yes, graphics is EVERYTHING in a game. Forget gameplay, let's just focus on the graphics. Graphics, graphics, graphics. What exactly were you expecting from a 30 year old game, ultra realistic 3D, anti-aliasing, bloom? C'mon.

Old arcade games are meant to be PLAYED not look pretty.

  • @infringementMAN I agree %100 percent. 'Hey, guys, this was rated the #1 game of all time, but it's graphics suck, let's go play MW2!'

Jesus, graphics don't matter, it's the GAMEPLAY that counts...

  • I suck at 8bit arcades except for Mario bros., Dig Dug, and Mappy :(

  • One controller to rule them all!

  • I love Dig Dug... odd because I don't like Pac-Man.

  • You know, the X-Arcade Tankstick sounds pretty much identical to the ideal arcade joystick for 360 and PS3 that you describe at 4:05... it weighs 20 pounds, not 200 but still.

  • like i sad i in my first post

    the X-Arcade Tank stick

    and dual stick are now

    truly the ultimate Arcade

    sticks. and think god

    they finally came out

    with an adapter for

    the Xbox 360 .

    though i have the

    ex2 fighting stick

  • One controller to rule them all.

  • why buying this while you can play fullscreen games downloaded from the wii shop?

  • Higher Resolution would be my guess.

  • Dig Dug is a badass. DO NOT fuck with him.

  • and if any one does not know why, watch awesome-dug

  • or you will get pumped XD

  • @LamentOfInnocence1 agreed Taizo Hori will Pump you up.... Literally

  • 2:50 omg another purple pickle! lol

  • namco museum esentials is on the way from amazon (the disc for xbox 360) can't wait to play them all with my marvel vs capcom TE fightstick =]

  • I love how the music starts in-sync when you move.

  • dig dug! I like the name

  • @TheZenMovies

    It sounds like Tic Toc

    o_O

  • Man those sound effect bring back memories.

  • i like how he can talk about nothing for 10 mins =)

  • The 360 Dpad is terrible and the triggers on the PS3 are annoying and I despise motion controls for the wii, every system has a fault in my eye. But they're all so fun to play too.

  • except trophies

  • But aren't PS3 Trophies the exact same thing?

  • PS3 Trophies = 360 Achievements

  • The PS3 trophies are the exact same thing dude.

  • You need to review some kung fu heroes for the nes.

  • You absolutely have to review Dragon Spirit. It's an awesome game and nobody ever talks about it for some reason - we need a voice like yours to help lift this gem out of obscurity.

  • I always think of Mega 64 when I hear that Dig Dug music

  • DIS GAME DIGS ASS xD DIG DUG DIG YOUR DIG ASS

  • You have a theme song only while digging. Awesome :))

  • best i ever got was to lvl 23

    freaking impossible

  • X Box controller is rubbish.

  • SPACE GAR !!!

  • You're really good at this...

  • I would rather have a leprecheun pop out of my controler that grants wishes when high scores are reached. Dig Dug and Donkey Kong were my 2 favorite games in the arcades.

  • You just described the OG Xbox fatty controller! :) thanks man!

  • or...do you try to clear the entire freakin map!!!!

  • haha, hey guys come follow me. i have some candy. hahahahahahahaha

  • awesome game and music

  • A huge, arcade-like controller, Great for fighting games and arcade style games that works with the consoles?

You mean like- an arcade stick?

You should get one of those.

Really, Buy one of the good ones (not 20$) and review it, I think it's just the thing for you.

  • i always loved the music from this game!

    such an epic game!

  • "hey guyz follow me... there is some free candy over here"

    O.O

  • how is zeebus or whateva its called spelt???

  • 52,130 points! Go for the world record now! By the way, the world record is 4,388,520 points! Good luck!

  • Dig Dug might have been one of the first games i ever played. Not that i was raised back when it came out, i just got the namco museum thing for my gameboy and i still love it today!

  • Cool!! It's Dig Dug. This is one arcade game I can go forever with one quarter. The XBLA version is great if you happen to have a Hori Arcade Wireless remote. Good times

  • i still have this game for my atari 2600 :D

  • Does Namco Essentials on the PS3 look better than Namco Museum on for the PS2. I would guess that the games look clearer. I am not expecting revamped graphics. These classic games were not known for fancy graphics. The game play is what matters most to me. Anyways great review Mark! Always top notch stuff from ya.

  • there is one such stick

    there called the X-Arcade

    sticks and they work for

    all games ,psx 1 2&3,wll,

    dremcast, Xbox 1 and now

    X box 360

a little more than 20 buck

    but wroth it.

  • @oc395 X-arcade is garbage

  • that because you got

to know how to set it

    up right mine work

    preferentially

  • @oc395 No, the actual hardware is garbage.

The stick and buttons are junk, cheap garbage, horrible switches.

  • Omg I love dig dug xD

  • For Playstation 3 PS3 review.

    :)

  • Dig Dug, King on C64 with so many variations on that format!

  • I've always liked this game but I was always so bad at it! xD

  • Great game, but I had nothing to do with it! :P

  • I love how music plays only when you move!

  • haha, that's exactly what I thought! lmao!

  • 2:16 go get the shroom!!! rofl

  • Ahhhh good old Dig Dug :)

  • wohoo 67-th

  • I bought this on your recommendation, and have been playing ever since. I have BC2 and haven't even taken off the wrapper. This collection is not only classic, but great and fun. I was turned off by the graphics, but a vid really can't do it justice when it relates to fun factor. also have a Galaga machine in my PS Home apt.

  • i still want my own theme music to play whenever i'm walking or running.^^

  • This is probably my favorite of the namco arcade essentials

  • i got all the achievments for dig dug, one of em called "complete dig" was fucking hard. you had to dig up every single pixel on the grid while keeping 2 enemies alive so the level wouldnt end but it took so long the enemies got faster and kept killing me

  • you know i newer fought about it, but what is with the squirrel at the beggining

  • I always like to try and dig every piece of soil

  • yah me too. its gets me a hell of a score

  • lol leading them to the candy van

  • i know alot of people wont agree but mark reminds me of peter off of family guy i mean listen to his jokes like hey guys look over here i have some candy!

  • i like how the music stops and starts when you move and not move with the player

like its some retarded shit xD but its awsome

  • I love Dig Dug! I grew up on this game in my younger days while hanging out at the local pizza place which had a decent arcade in it. I also remember playing a lot of Golden Axe back in the Arcade as well. I remember how excited I got when I finally beat it!

  • Did you know that Dig Dug won an award for best music when it first came out? true fact

  • Wow, 1982, a lot of things have changed since then

  • hehe I love dig dug

  • I've never noticed how inappropriate the dig dug picture was in the background. I'm so juvenile :).

  • @ShoobyBugger Naa. You're just an idiot because this game came out in 19?? as Mark said. And I played it in 1998 or 1999 one of the 2 which I played on either PS1 or N64. (Not sure)

  • @WR1ck1e Really read the original comment and think grammatically. I know it's hard, but try. The comment sounds as if you played this on ps3 years ago. Idiot. Haha, kids.

  • "Hey guys, follow me. There's some free candy over here."

    That sounded creepy as hell.

  • DigDug is my favorite of the pre-NES games. I even like it better than pacman.

  • That background art is excellent! It is also featured on the Japanese Nintendo 8-bit cartridge that I own. Such a creative and fun game :D

  • I love the cabinet art in the background, it's excellent for this game, and I'm glad they included it.

  • I love the way the music only plays when you move ;)

  • OMG DIG DUG FOR PS3! I remember playing this when I was just a little child! xD

  • Either A) you are a little child now or B) you didn't play this as a little child, for the ps3 is not very old.

    Aren't I a jerk :)

  • Dual PCB mod a TE stick or Hori Real Arcade Pro.

  • Comment removed

  • "hey guyz follow me... there is some free candy over here"

    hahaha payless xD

  • lol the expression is priceless but nice try

  • @v2791 That never gets old.

  • payless?

  • I think Mr DO! is better

  • lol i totally agree but i never realised the similarity before. i love Mr DO!

  • @eleven38

I agree. Mr. Do! is better.

  • I always liked how the music would go with your footsteps.

  • @nutherefurlong HAHA me too!

  • @nutherefurlong Watch Mega64's parody.

  • @evildwarf Thanks :) I'd never seen it before :)

  • @nutherefurlong me too

  • omg dig-dug! :D

  • 29th

  • awesome

  • Does the music only play when "dig-dug" walks?

  • Yep.

  • @Superpiper123 Yes.

  • yes

  • @Superpiper123 ya lol xD

  • normaly ; yes

  • @Superpiper123 Yes, yes it does. :)

  • yep thats part of the awsome ness
