My dog blackie pulled threw distemper. But he had a real bad tick all the time. no one ever liked him and kids were scared of him. But he was still my buddy. I would put him in the truck and ride around with rock on so we could both rock out. lol and it did look like he was rocking out with the ticking up and down.
2.) The intravenous preparations used were made from crystals to avoid sodium bisulphate, a preservative in the commercially available intravenous products, which can cause nerve problems when given at high dosages. He stressed that once this process was started NOT TO INTERRUPT IT FOR ANY REASON not even if the pet appeared to be feeling better or seemed fully recovered before the five days were up because he says "treatment broken off in the middle permits the virus to come back."

Thank you for posting this video. I adopted a puppy from a shelter 3 days ago and my vet has diagnosed him with distemper. I am unsure of what to do as he is not experiencing any neurological symptoms. Right now I have him on antibiotics for a possible secondary respiratory infection and hoping for the best. I will put him down if he develops other symptoms. Thank you for posting this video, Can you tell me a brief history of your dog's illness and how long it took for neuro symptoms to appear?
@petcrazy33: You are obviously uneducated. Before you voice opinions on something you know nothing about (i.e., vaccines), you should OPEN A BOOK! Vaccines give animals (and people) a chance to fight off infection by introducing their bodies to tiny portions of otherwise deadly organism/virus, resulting in a small immune responses that build up over time. When a vaccinated pet is challenged w/ a real threat, they can launch a full scale immune attack more quickly and LIVE!
The description says the dog died because it didn't get shots. Do you have proof that vaccines do more harm than good? Stop trying to spread your stupid conspiracy theories that have no scientific basis whatsoever.
OMG! I am so very sorry this happened!! It just sickens me that these vets inject our beloved pets with these nasty chemicals. They don't do the dogs any good! Stay away from Vaccines!!!
@petcrazy33 you obviously have no idea what a vaccine does. What is that now? High school biology? Please don't voice your opinion on something if you haven't a clue on what it is.
i'm sorry for your loss. today is a very sad day for our family too. we lost our dear 12 year old dog Kobe. My daughter was still force feeding him with liquid milk when he suddenly collapsed and died. Goodbye Kobe, we will miss you!! We love you so much!!!
that awful. im so sorry for your loss. i got a little teary eyed watching this because our dog is our family. but i have to ask why is it still around other dogs? distemper is contagious like what someone else commented. that being said, i wish all of your dogs a happy and healthy life!
I am so sorry for your loss! It made me cry :-( and im hugging my puppy right now! She has had all of her shots incudeing distemper. I do not know what we would do if we ever lost her.
I am so sorry for your loss, What a sad video ;' ( But distemper is HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS Please if your dog has this aweful disease keep them separated... God Bless
(info for some of your other posts) Pups get a series of distemper (and parvo) vaccines at an estimated 8, 12 and 16 weeks, then a booster shot a year later, then every 3 years. Adult vaccinated dogs who have healthy immune systems are generally not at risk. Its mainly a puppy thing.
Thank you for sharing with us your beloved girl and her plight to help us know more about distemper. I am currently sitting for a lovely labradoodle who belongs to a good friend of the family. She has been vaccinated to prevent distemper. Distemper is a cruel disease, very much like all human diseases. And people should do their part to help prevent distemper from affecting their beloved canine companion. It is a matter of life, or death.
I sympathize. Mine is 15 years old, and she may have had a mild bout of Distemper around a year ago - not sure. She has been weak in the back legs for that long and paralysis started 3 days ago w/ nostril infection, loss of appetite, diarrhea, twitching. Nose got bad today. She is having a rough time. This might be distemper after something else some time back, or Old Dog Encephalitis maybe. I knew it wasn't old age. Such a bummer. I don't know how she got it. I hope yours recovers.
my dog has this disease and we just got back from a 2day vacation but when we came back she wasnt at our house and nobody in the neighborhood has her im so sad =[
May I ask how Macy got distemper? We had to put our puppy to rest today because of distemper. He was only 3 months old. He came from an animal shelter here in CA where he must have had contact with it.

As long as your dogs are healthy and current on all vaccines, which mine are, they won't get it. Trust me, I was extremely worried!
