  • My child is in public school, however, Home schooling should be the absolute right of parents without the interference of government as long as the homeschool parents meet basic educational standards. I don't believe this "it takes a village to raise a child" stuff. It take's a loving family consisting of one Mother and one Father ( that is actually around) along with God to raise a child!

  • Look up " Connections Academy" online.

  • I have to disagree with you that homeschooling is expensive. Im going to homeschool my son next year just to SAVE money:)

  • I have been homeschooled since I've started school nine years ago except for the year I went to private school. My dad is retired dissabilty and our yearly income is under 20k, If my family can afford to homeschool any family can.

  • not tryin to sound but...your video makes absoulutely no sense. I think you need to do some more research before you make another video on something that you obviously know nothing about!

  • If you can afford the internet, you can afford homeschooling. If you've got a library card you can afford homeschool.

  • The first response from the average person when you mention homeschooling is " but they won't get the socialization". The socialization in any public school is terrible. If you want to get straight to the root of the problem, watch AMERICA'S GREATEST THREAT- the federal reserve, and then Charlotte Iserbyt- deliberate dumbing down of the world. Research the stuff yourself. It's all in history books, just not the ones we are force fed in our public schools.

  • Actually, the socialization in our schools is part of the reason why I homeschool my kids. It is also cheaper for me to homeschool. My income is $12,000 a year and I'm a single parent.

  • So my child should suffer because YOU cannot make the sacrifices necessary to pay for education? Wow!

Stop attacking home schoolers and attack the root of the problem - government involvement in education! Everything else is just cutting heads off the Hydra.

Home educators are doing what we can to change government schools; we're opting out.

  • If you would listen, you would realize, that is what is the problem, the government. I'm happy for you that you can homeschool, but everyone running from the problem doesn't help. This is my opinion, take it or leave it.

  • I did listen, and you said very little about the actual cause of the problem.

By your analogy if I went to a restaurant and contracted food poisoning every single time I ate there I should continue doing this until the restaurant cleans up its act. After all, that restaurant is the only place some people can afford to eat, and they don't even realize the food is poisoned!

If a store has poor service you don't shop there. When schools provide bad service I stop "shopping" there too.

  • you mentioned in your video about children no getting sports and social skills...can't homeschooled children go to parks and join leagues outside of school as well as play sports with the children in their nighborhood?

You see the children in the public schools and expect good children to LEARN social skills from them???

Todays public school sare NOT where a child should learn social skills.

    good video though.Interesting!

    vote Ron Paul for President!

Youtube his name or google it!

  • People have been putting there children into private schools for many years. Those schools cost 2k+ a year per child. Yes homeschooling is more expensive than public school, but it is worth it.Reality is there is something wrong in the Government school system.I would also like to know HOW peer pressure is different? It's worse in today's age then when you/we were in school.

  • I knew I should not have watched this diatribe. I think my IQ just dropped 5 points at least. My word this woman is stupid.

  • I posted a video response to your homeschooling 101 video... I hope you let it be shown. *Warning... I did get a little hot under the collar.

  • You're telling us to stop homeschooling and to put our kids into a public school so that we can support the school, and not leave the school kids behind. Why should we lower our kids' educational achievements to make someone else feel better? (Search YouTube for Stupid in America by John Stossel).

  • Grow your own food, teach your own children, volunteer after hours if necessary at your local public school... even helping with the gardening on a Sunday afternoon makes a HUGE difference to the look/feel of a school and EVERYONE'S self esteem... Children who are proud of their school try harder.... GET INVOLVED, DO WHAT YOU CAN.... but please, stop criticising parents who are actively trying to DO something, by homeschooling, it's counterproductive

  • ....

  • We can come together and make the public systems 'around the world' better, ABSOLUTELY, but everyone has a choice. It is not ANY ONE PERSON'S FAULT. The reason behind our 'failing' system is complex, and has alot more to do with the history of school systems, politics, policies without adequate community consultation etc etc. Buck passing WILL NOT help anyone find an answer. And then there is 'death by committee'... you want to cause a revolution???

  • . In Australia (and I believe in America too) the ULTIMATE responsibility for a child's education ACTUALLY belongs to the parent, not the state or government. That means, if the school tries everything in their power (power given by politican, not parents!) then it DOES come back to the parents. With lunch, assemblies etc taking up time, even a primary teacher (elementary) who has the class for the whole day, spends about 4 hours maximum with up to 34 children.

  • Every parent tries the best they can, with what they have got. Teachers do that too. We all have good days... and not so good days! Homeschooling families 'take back the responsibility' of educating their children. They do it together as communities. As a public school teacher, and now a homeschooling SINGLE parent, I am biased BUT also I've lived on both sides of this fence.

  • When you figure out the problem I may consider putting my children back in. Until then, take my money (I pay my property taxes), but I am keeping my kid. As far as socialization, heh, keep screaming like a puppet or educate yourself on the reality.

  • Thank you urbanmask! The difference is being locked in the same building in the same classroom with the same people month after month year after year when there is a whole world just waiting for them to graduate. HS children do academic work in a few hours and have the rest of their lives to enjoy interesting people and places.

  • Homeschooled children are normally more socialized, because they are raised interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds. From going to the libraries and out to historical places/museums, they will run into interesting and new kinds of people ranging from professors to dropouts. A great variety of characters unlike public school where they are stuck around the same bored kids that just want to get wasted on the weekends.

  • Homeschooling doesn't have to be expensive: Use the internet, local library, park programs and YMCA. The public school system is nothing but educational welfare and many are finding out that they just don't need it. You mention homeschoolers and socialization as being a problem and also bullying in the public schools. You are funny. Homeschoolers are socialized on a higher level and they are educated on a higher level. The public system is breaking down from the inside and that's just it.

  • Perhaps I'm not funny, just misinformed. How are homeschooled children more socialized? I'm asking with honest inquiry, not malicious intent.

  • My children attend youth service twice a week, church camp each summer, serve the youth ministry staff, play instruments, competitive in soccer,on a jump rope team, Spanish class, organize unit studies, organize lectures, active with the conservation centers, elder needs, the humane society and birth right. Gymnastics, baseball, swimming, zoo field trips and play/park dates. ...I'd be way over 500 characters if I listed them all!

  • Effort is our currency. We do without the things we don't need to educate our kids. I agree the internet, local library, park programs and YMCA are great free resources!

  • Now a teacher can't even put a child in the corner because the poor child might be embarassed for his poor behavior

  • that's just stupid. I'm sorry to say, but that's part of why they don't listen. UGH

  • Bullying was not an issue when corporal punishment was the rule of schools. Yeah some teachers abused their power but in the long run I think the vast majority of students felt safer and more willing to go to their teachers for help. How can you ever trust someone in authority if they can't protect you?

  • I agree with you, spanking should be allowed in the schools. I don't believe that there would be as many kids that think they can do what they want, without consequence, if spanking were allowed. Thanks for watching.

  • Hummm, hitting an adult is assault but hitting a child is ok? Now how can that possibly make sense?

  • posted my comment as a regular comment by mistake instead of a reply to yours

  • So what you're saying is that... even if the majority of kids were homeschooled, they would never be allowed to leave their houses, join community sports teams, or even interact with other homeschooled/non-homeschooled children? I also doubt that the children left in the public school systems would suffer, as there would be less children per class for the teachers, and more money per school.

  • Thank you for your input, as I was hoping that people could give valid standings for both sides of the arguement. I don't believe that all homeschooled children would be secluded, but feel that a majority of them are. I just think that the problems in the schools have to be fixed, whether you homeschool or not. Thanks again.

  • I wasn't homeschool but I wish I was because I got a lot of mean teachers there.

  • and one more thing...i was homeschooled some of my school years ..I HATED IT! i would never isolate my kids from life like my mom did me...ok ,im done...lol

  • ty so much for your input since you know what it is like to be homeschooled

    thanks for watching xoxo

  • My kids go to a private school...for many reasons, one being i did , another thing is they are given alot of attn which in turn makes them able to learn because someone cares...

  • Are home-schooled kids really smarter? I didn't think they could be if they miss out on learning to socialize with others and all the peer to peer, and teacher support and stuff you can't get anywhere else.

  • I agree so much and think today it is even more important to build social skills

  • What happened to my comment?

  • who knows with yt I never saw it though sad face

  • I thought it needed refreshing. I was hoping it would appear. Let me try to remember what I wanted to say.

  • Yeah I agree with you Not everyone can even be able to teach their kids from home Besides the kids would miss out on socialization I do not have kids yet Am not married nor even dating Yet if I were to get married I would not want to homeschool my kids lol

  • lol well it is always good to know what you want

it has been a hard road for us as far as school so I am sure there are many more with similar issues and worse

    thanks so much for watching

  • You are absolutely correct B the school system as awful as it can be is ultimately the best path for children to follow It prepares them in so many ways for the world & makes children into fully functioning people who are then not surprised by the harsh realities of life They are more well-rounded especially from a sociological perspective My favourites section is littered with your videos xxx

  • you are such a sweetheart kierri and I love ya tons xoxoxo
