Wonder why no one don't in a sense leave a bottle from time to time? I mean why not give the man a drink every now and then, or leave him a shot. Always heard he was buried across the way from a pub. Guess you can visit and go get a drink.
I'm from not too far from here. It's in Ireland. Oliver Reid chose this site himself. He lived close by, having moved there a few years before he died. There is a pub across the road where he used to drink a lot. One evening in the pub, he took his daughter out and across to the graveyard and pointed out to her that at an exact time every evening the birds used to all flock together around the trees in the graveyard. He was very moved by this and chose to be laid to rest here.
Ollie didn't mince words...He said exactly what he thought & felt, & I admire that so much--because so much of the time, he was right!!!. I wish he was still here; he was such a great talent. I know exactly what alcohol can do though, as I am an alcoholic (sober now). Ollie did what he liked & didn't concern himself with the opinions of others. That's rare. It usually got him into trouble, but I still thought he was great...I saw the good in him....
I have read the comments and yes this gravesite may appear to be 'not lavious' for Mr Reed...but dont forget his lesson from Mr Welles....
"Do nothing to let them know your hurt or your desires"
This sad looking gothic site is exactly what Mr Reed would want to be laid to rest in.
Under dramatic and not assuming, just a place where you will look at the stone and read the name and be instantly filled with everything lavious about him.
Just watched your video. I am a big fan of Oliver Reed!. I am glad he liked things simple. More actors and actresses should take a page out of his book!
i am tom walmsley. i made the video. thanks for all your input. its great to know you are all interested in oliver and its great to hear your opinions.
Hey Kerstin, do not worry about his grave, it was his wish, Oliver was far more interested in the simple things in life than over the top extravagance, it is the person within that is important, not the external......................................................
@kerstinwernermironow Well, I don't think i knew the "real" Ollie, maybe his inner most circle of friends did or maybe his wife Josephine and family, but he was in fact a very shy and private man when not performing for the press, or Film Crews, or whoever would watch really! i was lucky to know him through my grandfather and when i turned up unannounced at his home i think that association helped me a little, i will always cherish those meetings as they are so much a part of my adolescence....
Looks like a very peaceful place to be buried.

Such a quiet, lonely looking graveyard. I wonder if Ollie gets many friends or fans that stop by and give him a drink now and then.

You are a lucky one. I think he was a very intelligent man. Also warm hearted - it is my own private opinion.
