LovingLife411, This was her first real tour, so at the very beginning, her voice was real good, but after a show almost every day, her voice started going out. in 2009, the tour wasn't as heavy, so her voice got better.
Did you see her 2009 Meadows of Heaven? I know it's not an old song, but compare it to a 2008 Meadows of Heaven. :)
If they don't want to let up on the shows for her, they should at least record these proper, so we can hear what she CAN make them.

BUT Tarja sang this song with such a "soft" voice (especially at the end) and Anette has to scream to reach the higher notes (she doesn't even reach the high notes at the end)... and this kind of "opera" style just fits to this song and you keep it in mind and now hearing it with a "screaming" voice is just a little out of common... but don't get me wrong, I like Anette but you just have to take the compare...
Tarja had a lot of presence in stage...and WAYYY more voice than anette....this last is prettier though...I suppose Nightwish should have ended and then created a new project with anette...these no longer sounds like nightwish...it sounds like a cheap lacuna coil...Anyway...I keep more track of Tarja now than what I do for nightwish...

This sounds great. This is an old song that really suits Anette's voice. Im glad to see them play in a cool place like the Nokia theater instead of some of the shitholes NW has had to play in the US in the past. Hopefully next time they come to NYC they will play an even bigger place like the Beacon Theater or Roseland.
Anette does a great job here. I agree that on some of the old songs, she doesn't do as well, but this is truly great. What you will all have to accept at some point is that Tarja will not be returning. You may not like Anette, and that's your choice. Anette has a good stage presence, at least she MOVES. I think that you're kind of right, indeed NG want a performer, they didnt really care for her voice. Annete is great and all, but she is not at the same level of some superb metal singers (Tarja, Simone Simmons, Liv Kristine, etc).

She has great stage presense, I went to their show & it was realy fun to watch her, esspecialy her dialogues with Marco.
She just still has to grow on me in terms of singing. On some songs on DPP she sounds stellar. On others it's a bit painful, but I still say "give the girl a chance, she'll improve". Annette actually sings that better live than Tarja (and I do like Tarja). I think Annette is the perfect choice of singer for where Nightwish is musically now and Dark Passion Play is the strongest album to date. Awsome stuff.
I think the change in singer has brought life to the band, dont get me wrong, Tarja was good, But Anette has brought attitude and power into the band, And i cant wait to see them on 4/4/08 at The Manchester Acadmey.

Gosh people if you don't like Nightwish anymore leave it and go listen to Tarjas new stuff. I liked Tarjas voice with the songs too but I also like Anette... Take it or leave it...

To be honest, neither of you are open minded. In fact, it's difficult to be truly open minded when it comes to music, because music is something dominated by taste and taste is, at its core, a bias or opinion, one that is difficult to change on a whim.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I thinks she sounds surprisingly good. We are used to hear Tarja performing it, so of course hearing someone else singing it sounds weird.
Tuomas knew what he was doing when he hired Anette. There would always be criticism, no matter who would be singing Nightwish songs after Tarja.
I for one, like Anette's sound. Her voice is pretty strong and she brings something new to the band.

Annette actually sings that better live than Tarja (and I do like Tarja). I think Annette is the perfect choice of singer for where Nightwish is musically now and Dark Passion Play is the strongest album to date. Awsome stuff.

I think the change in singer has brought life to the band, dont get me wrong, Tarja was good, But Anette has brought attitude and power into the band, And i cant wait to see them on 4/4/08 at The Manchester Acadmey.
