  • Damn what a terrible bad song.

  • how much did it cost u to make that pond cause i want to make one also...thanks

  • Jesus wept, this was over 3 years ago. I can't remember what I did last week.

    Pass.

  • @pondguru

I have been researching deep bio-pond for our farm in Sask., Canada. On pond walls, I was told just the liner (poss addition with felt between liner and earth) is needed (not block / cement walls). I'm concerned with tree roots damaging the pond liner. In this video, there are trees close to pond with just a liner used. Is this concern of mine not warranted?

  • If the trees are really close it may be worth laying a 2-3" thick concrete base down before the underlay and liner but if they are a good distance away, I wouldn't worry about it. Really you will gauge it by how many (if any) roots you find when digging the hole.

  • @pondguru Thank you for this advise.

  • i WISH you were here! the snow is getting colder!

  • Whats the dimensions of that

  • I think it was about 25m x 12m x 2m deep - it was quite a while ago so I may be way out there.

  • Do u think i should use pond liner or some kind of clay for my crappie fishing pond

  • Depends on the size and if you have a permanent water feed to keep a clay pond topped up.

  • hahaa great pond that soil looks like a dream to dig in. my yard has to many roots I end up using my axe more that the shovel :/. great pond, I cant see how all your ponds look this same but whatever to each his own right?

  • fookin class

  • we did this by hand with the help of are daddy!

  • finally a video showing a totally natural pond (meaning no technology for maintaining it, just mother nature doing all the work). thanks man

  • Unfortunately, although the outer of the pond was seeded with rushes and sedge grasses they never really took off so there are not as many plants around as I would have liked.

  • i find it that all of your ponds you build are bascially the same apperance, not very interesting

  • My ponds are a mixture of lined, rendered, formal and informal with or without cascades for fish or sometimes wildlife, raised or ground level. I don't know how much more variery there is, unless you count the 'fill the hole with 40 ton of cobbles to temporarily hide the liner ponds' popularised by so many DIY shows, using a massively oversized inefficient pump to get a flow down the cascade. Try looking at some of the U.S. installers for a lack of variety, man.

    God bless America

  • @pondguru nice- a guy insults your work and you insult an entire country. Always nice to see level heads at work.

  • "some of the U.S. installers"

How is that insulting a whole country? I merely pointed out that he should look closer to home with his ignorance before throwing it across the pond.

Oh, you're American. No videos available. Right, now I understand.

    God.

    Bless.

    America.

  • that gives me an idea to have an in ground pool without having to put out 20g haha. very cool.

  • That is not a very good looking pond, firstly its shape is not unique or original. The water is not that clean and there is not water fall. The space around it is also not that unique, just filled with rocks.

  • No worries, man. That is your opinion, but it's like saying an Audi is not an original car because it has four wheels and a steering wheel. All ponds are basically a hole filled with water, but each has its own purpose. This one was meany to be a large pond, left to go wild for wildlife. The water is not clean as I took the pictures on day of completion. there is no waterfall as it is meant to be a secluded wildlife pond. The edge is to be heavily planted and not a feature.

    God bless America.

  • I love ponds and had a couple of questions.

so in total it took about a week and a half to do?

and if u dont mind me asking how much was it all (u dont have to answer if u dont wanna)

  • Not including the filling with water, it was only three days of work. The hole was already more or less dug so that saved time and all stone was from site so that saved more time. As for the cost, I honestly can't remember as it was before I started keeping a proper set of accounts. Sorry, man.

  • CRACKING POND PAL.

    DID IT TAKE LONG ?

  • 2 days to prepare and line out. About a week to fill with a hose. 1 day to put stone around and finish sides. Then I came back to seed it a couple of weeks later.

Having the digger to lift the stone speeded it up a bit !

  • that's a massive pond!

  • well done job, nice size, I wish I had a pond that big , my is 1,000 gallons with Koi fish and I love it every day!

  • This is one of the bigger ponds that i've installed. Check out 'proper koi pond' on my channel to see my pond. Checked out your pond, and its good to see plants in there. Most poeple in England don't think plants and koi mix. Wish our weather was good enough to have the tropical species of lilies in but we only get about two days of sun a year!
