What a freaky coincidence. I was listening to Stop Me by Mark Ronson on my laptop, paused it to watch the video and wondered why it started playing again.
if they stop you,you dnt concent, they have no rights what so ever, theres no laws, only acts which arnt laws, you never agree to them contracts, dont give id as its creating joinder.....know ur rights
@britishgoose01 under section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, "an officer may stop and search any person or vehicle or anything that is in or on a vehicle for stolen or prohibited articles. The officer must have reasonable suspicion." The police have the POWER to stop and search you. You can be arrested for not providing you name and address. If you refuse to cooperate with them, you will probably be arrested... know your responsibilities.
@britishgoose01 No. But acts do impose laws. If you refuse a stop and search you will be arrested and searched at the station. This is a non-intimate search and does NOT require consent so they can use force to search you and obtain non-intimate samples. It's part of the Police's POWER. They have the POWER to do this and will do it because they have the POWER! have you got that through your thick skull yet?
@britishgoose01 An act of parliament/statue/legislation, those are the official names for what are called laws, indeed an 'Act' would be a law. You didn't sign the Homicide Act, but if you committed murder be sure you will be subject to the act!
The problem isn't with the police, it's with this culture of "fuck the police" young people have adopted. They see a police officer, they act like they've got a problem with them. It causes suspicion and the police have a duty to act on that suspicion. It's not as much to do with colour as people make out.
The police are not allowed to stop you based on what you look like so wearing a hoodie, track suit and looking angry shouldn't get you stopped, but obviously it does.
@TurtleWithTurbulance they can only stop you if they have reasonable suspicion. But let's be honest dressing like you're gonna cause trouble will probably provide suspicion :P
its more "suspicion" that goes into it, if you go around with a hoodie on, baggy trousers and a look of seriousness on your face then your more likely to be stopped.
Surely it is not relevant whether one group are stopped & searched more than another. The question is: When stopped, do the ethnic group stops result in more justified results than other groups? If so the police are right to do so. If not, then the police are in the wrong. Forget prejudice, just be objective.
@robertsjones (sigh) Have you considered the fact that if you target one group of people more than another by definition you're going to find a higher proportion of them are criminals? Every time I get contacted by BNP Supporters who try to tout that there's a link between ethnicity and crime I point this out and they always say that they don't feel it's relevant that white criminals are less likely to be detained and charged in the first place than black ones. I despair... NJ.
Well To Be Honest Your Not Gonna Be Stopped And Searched Your By Yourself Cause Your Less Likely To Be A Threat Or Trouble One Your Own And Secondly The Places Where Your Tryna To Be Stopped And Searched i.e Norwich Or Durham Where Their Are Less Crime Rates And To Be Honest You Dont Fit The Age Rate Of Stop And Seraches Its Mainly Teenagers Whereas You'd Been Seen As A More Mature Elder
I understand why he went to posh old durham etc, if you wanna prove a point about getting stopped because your black, then go to a county where the prejudices are like to be higher. Point proves that if you havent got anything to hide or an attitude problem which attracts attention to yourself then the police are not interested in you. When young men decide they're gonna give it billy large in front of their mates when old bill comes round then ask, why the hostility if you have nothing to hide.
I saw this lads last stop and search attempt. It was funny when he was "hanging about" outside a police station trying to attract attention to himself.
If he wants to be stopped a searched i'll give him a few pointers.
i think its a good idea,i live in a rural area in the scottish borders where there is very little crime ,but i,ve still been stopped and had my car search then told to go on my way .if you got nothing to hide and the police are polite and your willing to cooperate its simple, but i was not given a reason for the searches that i,ve had in the passed but all seemed to happen when i was in my early twenty,s and still to this day if out late at night still run a chance of getting stopped
No disrespect but blacks are more likely to commit crimes than white.

the journalist would not be likley to be stoped and searched with a BBC film crew beside him.
Also why go to Durham which is in a county that has the smallest ethnic minority population and reletivly affluent.
It is intresting that the journo didnt go around Lozells Birmingham or parts of inner city London.
The whole piece looks like a lot of spin to back up the establshment's justification
The police are still overwhelmingly white(evedently hostile to minorties on the force) and COE.
