Many people don`t know but ancient Macedonia isn`t relaited in any way to modern day macedonia. The ancient macedonians were in fact greeks. They were called so after the region they lived or "Μακεδονία" in greek. I know that because I am greek and was born in that same region.
@RTWfan1234 - Actually, the inhabitants of "Makedonia" were probably more of Thracian origin but they copied and were deeply influenced by Greeks - to the point of adopting their language. But for ancient Greeks, Macedonians were barbarians, And being subjected by Macedonians through Philip II and Alexander was a national shame for some Greeks. So it is a historical distorsion to say that Macedonians were Greeks - they were just of Greek culture.
@grenierjp No no no thats not what he is saying the modern day Macedonia has no right to exist at all it's not Greek it's Bulgarian ancient Macedonia was yes partly Greek and is a province of the now unified Greek state but the country of Macedonia A.K.A FYROM is trying to steal the history of Alexander and Philip II.
I want that my ancestors were Romans.........................but they probably were mudswimming barbarians over here in the Netherlands................ =P
historic proof we still have roman names still speak very latin languge and our country is named land of the romans if this not enough
there was a DNA test on 20 countries in europe and the matins country Italy Spain Romaia and Portugal were related very much and they both speak latin and in school learn htere ancestors are
so this is DNA blood wich dont lie so i say Romanians Italians Spains and portuguges are pretty much descendts of romans.
Technically speaking, most europeans,, and people in North and South america are decendants or the Roman Empire because Barbarians were roman for 400 years, and cultures had Roman Influence.
I would be proud of my ancestors wherever I'm from, I mean, the Gauls put up a good fight as did the carthaginians. But I'm Italian so I probibally am mostly roman, but my 2 of my grandparents are german.
i've got ancestoral roots in scotland, who beat back the english, irish, whitch got their independance in a bloody independance war and the belgae, the bravest people in gaul
That is awesome. We tend to think of the Roman Empire as dead when the dark ages began, but it lasted 1,000 years since the dark ages began.

@RTWfan1234 Macedonians were Barbarians. aka "non-greeks". These barbarians led by Filip conquered the greek states. Filip's son was Alexander.
the rest is propaganda.

doubt it, around 60-70% of south americans are indiginous by some studies in 2008
and lots of americans are decendants of Brittish ( who werent really influenced by the romans much), dutch and french.
But the majority of the the american majority are decendants of Germans and Iris, who were not influenced by the empire much or at all.
so some maybe are but not much in in the west, probably the majority of western europe.
