It is kind of sad that His best and most disciple and friend denied Him. But he didn't sold Him for money lke Judas Iscariot. Peter is forgiven, he is a martyr. "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends". Makes you think of your own friends. At the same time it makes you think about the unconditional love of the Lord and how He is willing to forgive you over and over again. He doesn't look at our mistakes, but at the pureness of our heart and good will.
I can only imagine how many souls have been saved trough this movie, and God does it in very strange ways: He picked a very talented but imperfect man to make this movie...
it's hard not no cry when Jesus stares at Peter, his best friend who is blinded by fear. My father how many times have I turn my back on you too? could you forgive me?
Yes, I felt so bad for Peter, who not only tried his very best by pledging to follow Christ unto death, and then facing his fear and realizing that Christ's words about denying him were true, and feeling so ashamed. But lets also remember it was Peter who defended Christ with a sword to keep him from harm. Personally I would have ran those soldiers through with that sword, but then there might have been no redemption from sin. Peter was the most valiant, regardless.
peter! if you hear this dont listen to this people! you are not filled with human frailties, doubts, and fear. instead you are filled with the holy spirit.
Whenever I think of the love of Jesus I picture this scene. Jesus is so kind and loving. Even when he was left alone and foresaken he still loved Peter.
@Greenandscaly That's why Jesus said 'On you I will build my church', i.e. ordinary weak people who have to be filled with the Holy Spirit and the humility of Jesus in order to do anything. The Church is still composed of people like this, no matter what organisation calls itself The Church.
@Greenandscaly Exactly, if man has ever since the beginning refused and denied God in heaven then how much worst would they dishonor Him while He was on earth. He is lied to in Heaven and lied to face to face on earth. Reminds me that its not because of who we are that He came, but because of who He is.

After that, Peter cried, repented and helped build the church. He never denied Jesus again, instead was martyred by being crucified upside down.

Don't blame Peter. He was only human, filled with human frailties, doubts and fears.

one of the most powerful scenes from the moving, very emotional. The love and mercy of our LORD Jesus Christ is infinite! God bless you!
