  • There's something a bit lifeless about my cover of this song,

  • so beautiful..very nice cover!!

  • Excellent cover my really enjoyed it, and I loved Montgomery Murphy too! many thanks

  • From one of the many starving pickers in Nashville, you got that one cat.

"What I never knew, I never will forget" ........

  • I love this cover Ian,i am learning it to play at local folk club, thanks for the teaching!

  • It seems I never commented on this one before, Ian. I don't know why not. Just watched it again and had to tell you how much I liked it.

  • @1catbob: Thanks very much!

  • excellent tribute to a beautiful song! Your voice captures just enough "Prine-ness", but is much smoother to listen to. Well done!

  • @auralconcepts Thanks very much for the kind words, but realize that John's current lack of vocal smoothness was hard-earned. I hope to never acquire such vocal attributes- authenticity even, in such a terrible way.

  • great job .. great pickin.

  • Another nice one. Your voice is easier to listen to than Prine's, but he sure can write songs!

  • As usual a superb cover of this great Prine song. Whenever I want to learn a new JP song I always look you up to see how you play it. Thanks for your expertise.

  • nice cover of one of favorite prines, thanks Jordan

  • i absolutely love this song. glad to hear you play it. the words just make me feel something that i havent felt yet...but they get me ready for it!!

  • @shadygrove937 I think there's a song lyric in your comment!

  • Love it,"properjob" Ian !A nice treat to see you have some posts for me to catch up on,thanks! All the best from Cornwall.

  • This is one of the best damn songs there ever was, and this is the best cover of it I've seen.

  • pretty kewl man. Nice pickin and singing.

  • This song shows what separates Prine and creative songwriters from linear thinkers (like me). He said the image "kitchen light fell asleep on the bedroom floor" was from 9 yrs old, telling ghost stories with his cousin in the BR next to the Kitchen in Paradise (yes THAT Paradise). 10+ yrs later add a girl, some pathos, a pickin tune, lose the ghost stories and Voila!

Great job, i've learned a few things here i could never sort out through the backup on the album. Thanks!

  • Great job. Inspirational as always. Best regards.

  • Another great cover. Thanks again Ian. Love your covers. Keep em comin'!

  • great pickin again-freddie{ johnprine1946}

  • I do believe you have a romantic streak, thats nice. Vocals and guitar so harmonious and mellow, and clever picking patterns. Another winner Ian.

    (check gmails)

  • A good way to end a great song and a good way to end a beer.

    "All The Best"

  • Thanks, Terry- cheers!

  • That was fabulous! Thanks again for sharing your tunes with us.

  • Many thanks, Kristeneaux. Now start channeling your " budding born again guitarist" and play us a song- I'll be listening!

  • Nothing like a good Prine song with a bottle of beer. Well done...

  • Thanks, Jerry! Something I really find tastes great after a bottle of beer is... a bottle of beer.

  • Great job. You are keeping me busy trying to figure out those picking patterns. Thanks very much for all the great John Prine tunes. 5 Stars.

  • Keeping myself busy with the patterns also, but fortunately John never strays too much from easily-found strings and chords.

  • Hi, Ian, thank you for the new cover. Very smooth, very polished, a joy to listen. I liked the small embellishments a lot.

    Zs

  • Thanks, Zzolt. I'm re-acquainting myself with all the G, C and D Prine songs this month...

  • Very nice Ian.

  • Thanks for stopping by, Brian!

  • One of my favorites. You sounded great!

  • Thanks, Jeff!

  • album ???? i got it too lol

  • I did finally upgrade to CDs, but I do hate buying new pieces of plastic in order to hear my favorite songs. I wonder if I can find any music in digital format on the internet...

  • I thought I just commented on this - holy smoke I musta hit the wrong key!

I look forward to your new posts & especially so when i saw this up here Ian. I play this for my daughter almost nightly. Now i know how i shoulda been playing it! If I didn't know better I would swear that john learned to play gueetar from you! always soundin' great amigo!

  • Thanks, Tom! I hit the wrong key all the time also- and I'm not just referring to my keyboard when I say that.

  • Great Prine cover!

  • Great job on one of my favorite songwriters! 5*

    Al

  • Beautiful rendition of the song. I, too, bought the "album".
