I have a bad cold and couldn't hear the Litany of the Saints at church this morning.. Our organist at St. Augustine's in Pittsburgh sings this like an angel...
Thanks for posting this.. Hearing this during lent is very important to me..

this is a nice version of the Litany. We are having the Final Vows of one of our sisters, can someone send us the piano or guitar chords for this Litany? thanks.
Beware of this counterfeit that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught the Christians to commit adultery and fornicate with idols. BEWARE OF THIS MOTHER OF ALL HARLOTS. This will suffer heavy losses.
We sing this version of the litanty every Easter Vigil when the catechumens are about to be baptized. It is such a moving and humbling song. We also sang it to begin ash wednesday this year and I will be singing it this weekend at the funeral of an incredible woman from our choir. Thank you for posting this!
This version is called the Litany of the Saints by John Becker. You can listen to a better version online, it's slower and more meditative. Just google Litany of Saints Becker.
..WOW!!...this is awesome ...i always knew this in the gregorian chant style singing it in latin, english and spanish...does anyone know what recording this comes from?...thanks..GOD bless one and all...CHRIST IS RISEN!!...
..thank you questerLEJ ...i was able to locate and now own the music sheet as well for oragn, voice and even guitar accompaniment ..i've even found it on some "missalettes" in church pews"...i'd like to know what cd recording this is...thanks again..
I'm not the person who uploaded the video, and whoever did hasn't logged in to YouTube in a long while. However, something tells me that this is a parish choir. I believe the last saint mentioned in the "official" lyrics is Wenceslaus, but it's Matthew in this rendition ("Louis and Matthew, pray for us").
This leads me to believe that the choir singing this rendition might have been from a parish named after Matthew. I would guess many parishes even add extra verses with more saints. :-)
.No they are singing it as composed and as published on the music sheet i have...each parish can adapt it to their own parish's name or if they have a confirmation they can add the saints' names of those being confirmed or being ordained...This Litany is also used not just for the Great Vigil of Easter but also for Confirmation and profession of vows of monks and nuns, and ordinations of deacons, priests, and hierarchs(bishops).See this you-tube video: YOUTH RALLY WITH POPE BENEDICT LITANY
Hey there Dimitry! How are you! My name is Sebastian and belong to a religious order and will being ordained to the diaconate sometime this year, please God. I was wondering if you could forward a copy of the sheet music to me so this beautiful litany could be sung at the ordination. I would highly appreciate it. Stay Blessed+
This composition causes such a peace to come over me. It's so beautiful. I attended my first Easter mass as an adult last year, during which I was confirmed and received my first communion. This music will always take me back to those precious moments.
I don't remember where I found it, but it was available free for download. I added the Dore and Boticelli drawings and uploaded it for a class I was teaching in the fall of 2004.
@Caiaphas18 ..I just would like that my name could be added to that list!!!!!

Dimtry19: This version of the Litany of the Saints has always been my favorite. It's so much more moving--and creative--than the Gregorian version.
The composer's name is John Becker. Hope that helps!
