Sorry NorthAmerica121, I am not looking for a forum to express my general hostility and feelings of misguided anger. I am merely pointing out the facts as I see them. Quebec is one of the greatest societies in the world and Montreal is one of its greatest cities. And for this we have the Quebecois and their innate sense of humanity to thank. My concern is that the Quebec government in its efforts to preserve the French language is inadvertently harming the very people it is trying to help.

I am an private English teacher living in Sherbrooke, Quebec. This area is very French, many people have little or no ability to communicate in English. Local politicians and educational authorities are intent on limiting the amount of English instruction in the French schools. Keep in mind that we are situated less than an hour away from the US bourder. Anyway, I don't care, this situation guarantees me a stable career in the future. The problem is that not everyone can afford my services.

Quand j`avais 20 ans, j`ai fait le tour de l`amérique du nord. À mon retour, 3 mois plus tard, quand j`ai traversé les lignes et commencé à entendre le français, j`ai réalisé à quel point j`appartiens à une société distincte, unique en amérique du nord.

@emiliokis1 Agreed. I am, personally, not a separatist, but I do have sympathy and understand the Quebec want for separation. If you were to see the economic realities of Quebec, you'd understand it as well. The English owned and still own almost everything in the province. It is an economic movement first cultural movement second IMO. I <3 Quebec and am living in New Brunswick, so maybe, out of selfishness I want Quebec to stay. Either way go Quebec!

I am a montrealer of Irish descent, I love bill 101 because it keeps quebec from having it's culture ripped apart by immigrants. The French don't hate the anglophones they are afraid of having their culture become like Toronto's culture
