Usually, when english quebeckers tell french quebeckers about the exodus of anglophones, it is all about blaming french quebeckers, separatism, our linguistic laws, our supposed intolerance, and so on, vous connaissez la chanson. This documentary gives a different sound, it tells of a human experience.
OK fuck take it easy. Quebec isnt that bad for anglophones...if you fail to understand that french is the official language in quebec..than fucking leave...im 100% english, yes ive been discriminated on, but if quebec would stop pointing fingers and canada and if canada would stop pointing fingures at quebec and get along then this country would be a much better place. in my opinon, fuck the FLQ, fuck le parti Quebecois and fuck quebec soverenty. I am a Canadian quebecer, and ALWAYS will be.
@sinclaire70 if you said that to my face you would be in the hospital. get that clear. J'habite a Mascouche, je parle français, et je peux m'exprimer en français facilement. stit con. mange la marde
It's unbelievable that while this was going on, Canada would wire 8 billion $ a year to Quebec in transfer payments. These people didn't deserve a penny, but got 8 billion annually instead. What a shame.
"So much respect for 80% of the population of the Province."
In Quebec, a francophone doesn't have to work to earn respect. He gets respect through legislation. And if you don't respect him, you get a brick through your window, with "last chance" scribbled on it.
''We dont want to learn a language that we dont see any point to speak....'' So much respect for 80% of the population of the Province.... I am happy to have English friends that actually see the meaning of speaking french... Being respected by everybody french or english. Your language is a really big part of what you are. I can speak english and french. Vive la langue française et le Québec!
Sorry NorthAmerica121, I am not looking for a forum to express my general hostility and feelings of misguided anger. I am merely pointing out the facts as I see them. Quebec is one of the greatest societies in the world and Montreal is one of its greatest cities. And for this we have the Quebecois and their innate sense of humanity to thank. My concern is that the Quebec government in its efforts to preserve the French language is inadvertently harming the very people it is trying to help.
I am an private English teacher living in Sherbrooke, Quebec. This area is very French, many people have little or no ability to communicate in English. Local politicians and educational authorities are intent on limiting the amount of English instruction in the French schools. Keep in mind that we are situated less than an hour away from the US bourder. Anyway, I don't care, this situation guarantees me a stable career in the future. The problem is that not everyone can afford my services.
I love Canada, and if you love something stay put and fight for it. My Canada starts in NFLD and goes west to BC, as far south as the great lakes all the way to the North pole.
@emiliokis1 Agreed. I am, personally, not a separatist, but I do have sympathy and understand the Quebec want for separation. If you were to see the economic realities of Quebec, you'd understand it as well. The English owned and still own almost everything in the province. It is an economic movement first cultural movement second IMO. I <3 Quebec and am living in New Brunswick, so maybe, out of selfishness I want Quebec to stay. Either way go Quebec!
I am a montrealer of Irish descent, I love bill 101 because it keeps quebec from having it's culture ripped apart by immigrants. The French don't hate the anglophones they are afraid of having their culture become like Toronto's culture
@klyde2005 Irish descent, In my eyes you are an immigrant yourself in that country just as much stinky English and French rats. YOU ARE ALL IMMIGRANTS THERE WHETHER BORN OR NOT. GET THE FUCK OUT OF CANADA.
