To me, this is a very moving piece, probably one of the best by the Brubeck-Desmond team. I listened to it once - and repeatedly - on a day I was deeply blue a long time ago, and it still works on me like a heart breaking story. This is the rare of kind of music that can make you feel passionately sad in a wink of notes. It's superb )))
@artwitstick You bet. I'm listening to this right now... room dark but for a short stripe of all-yellow xmas lights, 1 am , half glass of jack daniels by my bed, the cold room feeling warm from the fading clouds of the exhausted cigar, an old love long gone on my mind
I bought the LP "Time Further Out" in 1964 when I was 15 years old; I was learning jazz drumming and Joe Morello was the jazz drummer who has a beautiful jazz drumming style

Another late night, lights down low, dream like piece. Should be required listening. Takes me back to a good place!

Sad and beautiful. Desmond's solo is short but very impressive. And Dave is far from his usually "aggressive" self, very tender and thoughtful.

I am so happy someone finally posted this. Is maybe my favorite Brubeck tune, and it is so over-looked.
