I thought this video was very informative. I am an economics major focusing on international trade, and really like to see other people into this! It's probably one of the most relevant topics nowadays...
one tip tho...try not to move too much next time, if there ever is...i found it very distracting =)
1st, Good Job! :) In terms of being "socialist", Canada beats China by 100 mile. The state sector exists because there are a lot of things that the states needs to manage: like steel, fossil fuel, finance, infrastructure construction, etc. Centralizing these sectors give them efficiency. Also, collectivized farming has not quite exited the stage yet :) Because in southeastern areas, where land is tight, people are many and soooo workaholic, it's still more profitable to farm as a collective.
I wonder what their inflation is like or going to be like and what their central banks are doing with their currency. I hear rumors about how their currency, the yuan, is manipulated so that it supports cheap production costs, which is where their supposed dominance in manufacturing is.
Also their trade imbalances with other countries, they dont seem want to buy too much from others, yet they sell lots of cheaply built goods themselves resulting in their domestic pooling of wealth.
I believe there are numerous things that Chinese want to import from other countries, especially some high-tech products. But the truth is developed countries prohibit these stuffs from exporting to China. That could explain parts of the international trade imbalance for China.
When consumers buy cars they get added to GDP. But cars wear out and must eventually be replaced. When consumers buy replacements they get added to GDP. But the cars that wore out never got subtracted from anywhere.
Economists don't mention NDP much but only CAPITAL goods get depreciated.
Economists can't do algebra.
They don't mention the planned obsolescence of automobiles either. Planned obsolescence is good for the stock holders of the corps that make the junk. If consumers are DUMB!
