City Year was established in 1988, long before the Obama administration. They do not promote any sort of ideology except being positive and creative, and being aware about the world's challenges, like poverty, racism, and so forth. City Year members are strongly discouraged from trying to pressure the kids with whom they work into any sort of political party; there are Republicans, Libertarians, and many others who are in City Year as well. The message is acceptance and diversity, not Socialism.

There's something oddly familiar with the whole City Year, and Obama Youth Brigade. Something from not too long ago. I can't put my finger on it. I know I've seen this form of indoctrination somewhere. Only they wore brown shirts. Something about nationalism. Something about MANDATORY service to your country. Hmm.
