• After the first interview I saw with that c**t with a smug look on his face I realised that the truth was never near to this lips...

  • Comment removed

  • i think alberto gonzales is to WH officials as the harlem globetrotters is to the NBA. he sure made a lot of senators & those in the audience laugh with his goofy answers.

  • the result of affirmative action :(

  • @catalinaguerrero: it wasnt affirmative action. bush brought gonzalez up from texas where G worked for him as a general counsel, secretary of state, & on the TX supreme court

  • @catalinaguerrero

Something which as a liberal you support and brand the opponents of racist.

The guy was Bush's counsel and many other jobs from his days back in Texas even.

As a conservative minority, he faced the brunt of the Democrat machine after him.

  • @catalinaguerrero

This is what happens when a conservative, and conservatives don't get by by affirmative action, gets badgered relentlessly by biased attacks from the left.

Libs like Powell would be well-liked and gain redemption and approval. Not this guy. He stood by his convictions as a conservative minority and got treated like garbage by the left because of that.

  • I can't believe that the university I attend, Texas Tech University, hired this two bit henchman to be the professor of a Political Science class entitled something to the effect of "Contemporary Issues in the Executive Branch."

  • lol sucks for you dude. go to another university!

  • It occurs to me -- Gonzalez's protected status as a hired gun for high-level criminals in govt. embodies the problem of seriously compromised Congressional authority; It's intolerable that 'civil service' goons like Gonzalez either won't or aren't prepared to answer questions put by Congress they are by law required to satisfy. Congress needs to begin holding these CYA weasels in Contempt, levying STIFF financial fines and jail time, to place officials on notice they are NOT above the law.

  • Hahahaha, he ripped him at the 8th!

  • It was all lies!! All lies!! Bush & Albert the Greatest Liars!!!

  • I love how people will buy into this, letting them blame a fall guy for everything that happened. If you think there is ever one event where only one person is at fault, you are a fucking moron.

  • Jackalofdeath,

    GOOD POINT!

  • So this is number 459 on the list of 1000 blunders by the Bush Administration, but damn you Clinton for that blowjob. Damn you!!!!!!!! By the way, the people who voted twice for Bush are guilty of inappropiate sexual behavior as well, you guys gave Bush a Monica lewinsky, shame shame.

  • it amazes me that apparently a 'if you resign we won't send your lying ass to jail' deal was made. he not perjured himself but insulted everyone's intelligence at the same time. not a fucking thing happened to him. what do you bet he still gets a govt.pension of some sort...fucking amazing!

  • I think Josh Marshall has something against the guy.

  • In the hearings Attorney General Alberto Gonzales made a statement which was "... fire a shot across the bow" referencing the bow of a ship but pronouncing it as a hunting bow with an arrow.

    Did anyone see that?

  • I watched the whole mess and this isn't out of context

Gonzales never answered a single question during the

whole process. The founding fathers would have taken

a break and hung him from the nearest tree. I never

thought I'd see the day we had a worse AG than J Reno.

  • @tyrbolo

'hung from the nearest tree' would have caught a lot of flak if said about Sotomayor.

I never thought we'd have a worse AG than Reno. I think Holder just may be, though. I mean, they both fired the whole department.

  • @MyTotalRemedy You may be right about Holder, but it takes a bit of work to outdo Reno.

  • @tyrbolo

Yeah. He's pretty bad. I still have a feeling in my gut, though, that at this point Reno is still worse than him. Killed all those people at Waco, needlessly.

  • R.I.P.UBLICANS: Give this comment a thumbs down!

  • when you cover up for the president or vice president there are no straight answers. this guy is smart and articulate, he knows what he's doing...he's the fall guy. his resignation is not satisfying...

  • fall guy? to be the fall guy, you have to take some punishment.

  • I dont think The Daily Show could have edited clips or wrote a skit more hilarious than what actually happened. It is sad day when the nations top lawyer can lie to the whole country, then CHOOSE to leave months later.

  • priceless!!!!

  • Some of those are hilarious

  • as an american, political party not with standing, i am totaly ashamed at the fact that america could tollerate such a complete idiot sworn to uphold the laws and constitution of the united states.

this man, a total abortion behind the scenes in covert activities with the former attorney general, and appearing in congretional hearings is a liar & criminal.

texas, and mexican americans should be ashamed of him. texas style of govt. ha!

  • im about as big a critic of these guys as you could imagine, but these quotes were taken out of context/

  • sorry, joebuddens, more correctly listing the top 10 does not mean showing the entire speach!

i saw 90% of those hearings live & the intent of what he said/meant was VERY ACCURATE "out of context". the man was a very bad A.G.

you do a great disservice to, in fact, the truth with your statement.

  • This is absolutely incredible! If I was on the commitee asking questions i'd have a very hard time not laughing at him. Gonzales is positevely the worst public official I have ever seen carry himself on television

  • I'd laugh really I would but I watched the hearings and this is just to true to be funny.

  • thanks, ikanel!

  • Good. Work...

There doesn't seem to be many pro-Bush comments to this video...

  • Mr. Gozalez your resignation is wef. September 17th-2007 ~ ~ ~ Why not to tell the truth about September 11th before you go?

That will be a great service to America and humanity:)

  • schumer was annoyed haha

  • Bush and his band of low life scum. Good bloody riddance.

  • 8:10, the expression on Leahy's face is so hilarious!!

  • >8:10, the expression on Leahy's face is so hilarious!!

    utter disbelief

  • Before viewing this I didn't know that I would miss that guy. I don't know how I knew I wouldn't miss him....

  • This digest just makes it even more clear that Gonzales needs to be indicted for contempt.

  • 5&F

  • Why didn't they zero in on his initial press statement? He said he wasn't involved. That's pretty straightforward. Then facts came to light that he was involved. How can he say he "misspoke" and "my mistake" when he was clearly lying at the time? He then clarified the lie with a reporter and said he was involved because he knew evidence and testimony show he was in meetings, etc. He said he wasn't involved, but he was... how is that misspeaking?

  • johnnyk67 on the spot. You are 100% correct. It pretty much is a microcosm of the lies, contradictions, deceit, manipulation, & abuse of his tenure as U.S. Attorney General. Gonzales should be disbarred.

  • and instead, he'll be replaced. by chertoff.

  • great work Josh!!

  • Great Googly Moogly

  • it pisses me off to no end that he was not held in contempt for refusing to answer. i understand that there's a time for political theater, but for crying out loud there's also a time for action.

  • Gonzales hurts my brain

  • If you think a democrat will not act in such a disgusting manor, think again please. Both party's have been RAPING the American people for far to long.

  • Thanks for setting us straight, putittogether!

  • Josh and TPM - we need more people like you. Thanks for making youtube one of the worlds best resources.

  • thanks!

  • We'll miss you, Gonzo!

  • You should have played the rest of Sen. Dianne Feinstein's questioning... That was the best one.

Where gonzales goes "How many did I fire? You mean with cause, without cause?" That's #1 in my book!

  • tpm is freaking awesome!

  • lol !

  • lol

  • "we're gonna miss him" lmao!!

the thing at the hospital was the most disturbing to me (altough it was ALL pretty pathetic). so, if Ashcroft is doped up, watching butterflies and angels flying around his hospital room, he can still reclaim his authority to approve the wiretapping program... apparently, Gonzo was fine with that (HOPING for that, actually).
