Akkerman was great in Focus. Now, he is simply amazing. Perfect combination of technical ability with that touch of soul he adds to whatever he plays. Cant think of anyone quite like him. I think he has been touched by the hand of whichever God you believe in...
I love this man's playing. Just about the only guitarist who can actually play any style of guitar brilliantly. Classical, jazz, rock, funk, acoustic, gypsy jazz and lute, lead and rhythm. Always makes it look easy. .Sublime..

Hmm, have your friends ever been elected best guitarist of the world by the leading magazine of that time? No? Didn't think so. Please don't compare Eddie Van Halen with Jan Akkerman. That doesn't give you any credits for you knowledge of music. I agree with you on the fact that music is allways a matter of taste. At least as far as liking it goes. But if you don't recognize quality when you hear it, that's sad.
