Hey Michael thank you so much for doing this retrospective, from part 1 to 4 there were chills on my spine. I can relate to every feeling that were mentioned in this retrospective, Shenmue is a masterpiece of gaming, and will always be my favourite series of videogames. It's a part of who I am, I grew up playing this game and learned many things from it, it's really a beautiful experience that shouldn't be missed or forgotten.

No game ican think of canrelatively comeclose to that of the shenmue series theconcepts, visions, the music, artistic views, the gameplay the capsule toys haha.. were all in a sense perfection.i played both games when i was about 10 years old,just recently i have turned 18 and imust say without shenmue, i probablybe one wreckless adult,the game not only offered entertainment but lessons/morals you could learn. This game is beyond anything i have played, it showcases heart which modern games lack

I learn about Shenmue from various game media. I bought it eventually and was very happy to play through it. I have not finished the game 100% though. Don't have all collectables. The graphics and music were great at the time.
Shenmue II was one of the big reasons I bought an XBox(aside from Halo, JSRF, Panzer Dragoon Orta, TJ&E III and Crazy Taxi 3). I have not finshed the game at all. But see as how we may not get Shenmue III, I didn't bother.
Just the most powerfull game ever made, just listening to the music makes me shiver, no other game can do that.
Videogames nowadays are becoming much more like chewing gum, you have a little fun with it, then throw it away, shenmue is the only game that i absolutely love and will always consider the best game ever made.
I rushed through the game and completed it in 3 days - was very disapointed with the total game time until I replayed it & realised the game goes at your own pace and I had actually missed out alot - the first 'game' to allow me not to follow a linear path through it and wouldn't stop me if I missed out big parts...That 3 days turned into 10 years and I still revisit it...Would be great to go through it again now and have Shenmue 3 at the end to play!
@robatfreedomhouse i must of completed shenmue 1 about 3 times the first time i must of done it in 16 hours i took my time and enjoyed every second and i dont know many games i've done that with, most games you realy cant do that with and once it's over it's over and with shenmue there so many reasons to go back ;D
Heard of Shenmue through friends at school, then saw a copy in a cash converters for £8! - I thought...Until I got it home and only had disc 3 & Passport! They sold the 2 cases individually! Went back and bought the other straight away!
I first heard of Shenmue from a commercial that I saw while watching Smackdown. I never thought much about the game until my now ex-brother in law bought the game since he had a Dreamcast. I didn't and still don't have one. I didn't play Shenmue until Shenmue II came out on the Xbox. I wanna buy the game again
I love this game series more than any game ever made and I'm sure I will love it more than any in the future. I am a HUGE Shenmue fan! Every year I do this thing I call "Shenmue Quarterly". This is when I choose 4 different times in the year to do a Google search on any update to the Shenmue saga. Yes, there are many fans like myself out there and I'm sure we all have the same thing in common. We would all paid extra to get the game moving or to just find out how the story concludes!

Shenmue is just awesome! I ended up buying the game from teacher in 8th grade I had. best $10.00 I ever spent EVER! The disc are still in great shape.

The game was the first cimematic game i ever played. It was the first game that i saw that made me think these graphics on this cant be touched. all characters had different voices and japan had so much detail. i still cant believe how real it felt to this day with modern games. and it looked better than all ps2 games.lol
@davidhass3lh0ff exactly. the game just cant be matched even on this day. i just cant believe how much realism went into a dreamcast game. its unheard of. nothing i mean nothing can reach that shenmue level.
Shenmue is ALWAYS going to be one of my favourite games. I have kept my Dreamcast to replay the two games over and over. Even now, I still hold some very very small hope that one day, even if I'm 60, I'll see and end to these gorgeous games. It's been what? ten years since the games came out in my country? (UK, so I was 14 then) And each time I play them I'm still enthralled, stunned and amazed that such beautiful games exist.
@Holyfiremolotov i must of been 16 when the first shenmue came out and it change my life and i will allways hold out hope of a 3rd game no matter how old i get.
Another great video, it's awesome to see how people all over the world come together to share their love for something so special in one place. Glad to have been apart of it. Looking at it there are things I could have included/said better but meh what can ya do eh? :) It's been a great ride so far and I can't wait to see what you do next. Sure I can look in drawers in my main house but I cant enter random people houses unless its a food store or the likes
