In James 2:5, He explains how the poor (as in money) was chosen to be rich in faith. There are not many distractions when you dont have anything to loose. Prov. 10:4, Mat 11:15, Matt 26:11, Rev 3:17 are just some.

Therefore the principle of the holiday is Biblically compliant. Cupid is not acknowledged, accepted, or celebrated by the christian body for 2 reasons: 1 there is no mention of him in the Bible 2. Cherabims are not little naked white babies.
